Infraction ESC Motor Finished2.jpg

Different view. Finished installing the MM2 esc in original esc spot. Along with a new 25kg servo and 2200kv motor.

Reactions: Recovery Infraction
I am thinking of going 8s on my infraction. I assume yours is 8s capable? And what motor did you choose? I also really enjoy your setup fit the stock housings! Definitely plus for my potential build..

Actually that is a MM2 XO-1 ESC and I couldn't get it to unlock for use with any Tx/Rx setup! I've been slacking badly but going to send it in to Traxxas and have them test it. I have since obtained a Max5 ESC and one of those newer Castle MMX 8S ESC... The motors I've picked up so far are only 6S capable, both are Hobbywing one is the 4272 2200kv and the other one is the 4985 1650kv. Max5 and the 2200kv motor did not want to work together, at all. I just recently installed the 1650kv motor last night, so we shall what happens tomorrow for testing!!

Appreciate the kudos on using the original ESC area, I did have to Dremel the battery down quite a bit to allow it to fit. So far, the nice part about it is, I can still fit all the individual batteries there. Some of the longer batteries may have to sit at angle sort of thing or buy very specific size batteries just for this setup... Again thanks for the Kudos and hope your set up goes smooth!!

Your enginuity and problem solving skills are something to be proud of my friend! Would you mind lending that insight on the possibility of an 8s motor in the stock location? The findings on my homework are that 8s cans are too long for the stock configuration.

Yea stock location will only allow up to a 90mm length motor. That's a squeeze itself! I think the biggest motor I've seen fit stock is the Posieden 1800kv motor. I think it's a 4290 or 4090 can size. Any motor that's longer we have to remove a battery tray and mount the motor from the other side of the motor mount. To be safe, there are aftermarket mounts that handle the weight of the bigger motors too. If I remember correctly, anything bigger then a 27t pinion gear we have to go to an aftermarket motor mount as well!

I've been running 1 6s packs anyways, so not much would change. It actually might balance the chassis more with the motor swapped. Stupidr/c has some nice hardware to facilitate that. Unless something comes along in the very near future, ( which is I inevitable in this hobby!)
I'm leaning heavily towards the Castle MMX8s paired with a tp 4070 2200kv cm..I plan on the esc install first, The motor a few packs later. How has your servo swap changed your ride?

That combo is going to be great for some speed runs, definitely one of the most popular combos. You might have to gear it down a lil for all around bashing or drifting sessions. The servo upgrade has been very noticeable, I do prefer the torque over speed for a servo in this rig. I say Torque servo as I want the servo to actually turn the rig at higher speeds over it just being able to turn the wheels faster and not keep up strength wise through the turn. I put in a 25g servo, if you can find a decent price for a higher torque servo I feel it will help a lot with security of the rig as your driving as well.

Thanks for the insight! Living in a metropolitan city, my locations for speed runs are tough. My intentions lie in 0-90 in a very entertaining way..if that makes sense hahaha! The weight of the car being not a feather, I could definitely see how a torquier servo would be beneficial. Nixing the popularity of the combo, I would be grateful to hear your choices for my application?

If so, that MMX 8S esc and the TP Power 2200kv is a very good combo. Something I'll probably try later in the summer after I get my Limitless next week. The Poseidon motors are very good a well, 1800kv one is just what I've seen via videos so far running, (effin beast!) though I hear from a lot they can run hot, still efficient, just runs hot as the motor is pushing its RPM limits.

Congrats on the Limitless! I'm not doing speed runs with the infraction. ( maybe a couple) I'm all about a nasty 0-90 mph. More of a hooligan drift, drag setup. I've heard good things about Poseidon motors. Is that 1800 you mentioned 8s capable? Acceleration is my goal. Cruising at 35 pulling the trigger and scorching the pavement! Maybe I have the wrong setup in mind for what I'm looking to do?
