Granite Voltage Series Diff Outdrive Issues?

Changing the cups only would definitly be simpler if the metal ones fit. However, I am wondering how the wheel side cup is held onto the the axle. Is it press fit? Will this cup be the next to fail after the diff side cup is replaced with metal one?

Been through 4 diff cups so far and wanted to find out y it was happening. So i did some running on 3s today on the granite voltage and noticed the differential leaks oil on the shaft causing the plastic to turn into oily black goo then when it starts spinning in the cup the shaft essentially cuts away the plastic.

This truck blows my mind. It it my first real RC car and I cannot believe the beating it takes without breaking. The stripping of the diff cups is definitely the Achilles heal of this truck (I have been through 3 now). I run 2S, 4Ah Lipo. It is a pretty cheap part and relatively fast fix, but I can’t imagine upgrading to higher power motor until a fix is found. I think I will try this upgrade you all speak of. Thanks!

WOW ok 2S lipo is not kind to this vehicle. 3rd time on lipo and I stripped the spur gear. It does great with the lion batteries. Here is a pic of the diff cups and the spur gear. Oh well it's only money. I've ran lion batteries in this several times and it didn't break. I think I might try to buy several sets of lion and then run them in it instead of the lipo. I will admit the the suspension and steering seem to handle a beating. But the plastic gears don't seem to be a match for the lipo. Here is video link with the truck running on the lion batteries. It was a spur of the moment setup lighting sucked and the editing was done real quick.

This looks like you are not letting off when you land. That will break stuff real quick. I did that with my Kraton and shattered the gear in my Diff. The jolt is too much for it.

Has anyone thought about swapping out the Differential with one from the Granite BLX 2wd 2014-2015 model (RC squid brasher of the year).. I can't get specs (# of teeth) on it but it looks similar to the one in the voltage, it may solve all the diff issues as it's a different design ..

Thoughts?

I'm exploring this whole Arrma thing still. I have a pair of voltage models and now a Granite Mega 4x4. The rear differentials on those two are nothing alike.

Anyone with a BLX and a Voltage in the stable around here?

I understood him but also chimed in so I can get updates on responses. Cause I have two Voltages myself, I'm very interested to know if there's a solution here.

Have you found out anything on this yet?

Nothing to report.. I did some more internet surfing.. no one seems to have done it.. but when I compared part numbers I found that both our Voltages and the Granite Mega blx has 39teeth .. so height wise it will fit.. I couldn't find width.. or bearing size.. the other potential problem is I can't seem to order the diff as a complete set only has the outside gear. if I could find it as a built unit I would buy it and just compare them see if it fits or can be modded to fit. it uses different style diff cups that are metal.. and as basher of the year it seems to have no issues with snapping..

Yeah im looking into biting the bullet and just buying it to see. if its the same size for all 3 gears you could definitely make a slipper shaft that would fit

The part I thought might fit
48P METAL GEAR SET
#AR310416
BUT!!

Armma changed it! the 2014 BLX now has a 32dp . . ahh..

48P METAL GEAR SET(Replaced by AR310597 - 0.8M COMPOSITE GEAR SET)(Replaced by AR310600 - INPUT SHAFT 60.5mm (PLASTIC MOTORPLATE GEARBOX))(Replaced by AR310601 - 0.8M GEARBOX SET (PLASTIC MOTORPLATE))(Replaced by AR310762 - METAL INPUT SHAFT GEAR 15T 0.8MOD (1pc))

This is just all wrong.. ignore it
If I read it rite that’s a 32dp. Gear pitch. The voltage is a 48dp. Arrma changed the part number. The original part may have fit as it was 48pd. but they changed all the gears to 32dp. And sell them as a set. That won’t help us because we can’t swap our spur gear. So we have to have 48pd. Sucks. The 310416 was 48dp.. but I can't find one anywhere.

Only the spur side of the shaft is 48 on the voltage. The rest is .8mod. So i was looking around and saw the traxxas xmaxx slipper looks to be almost exactly what the voltage needs.
