So I thought my diff was broken, but I opened it up today and it was full of dirt. How does a normal input gear look? Did I ate this one? And how do I clean this? It doesn't look like there are metal flakes in the dirt

What do you exactly mean by "shot"? Is it broken?
It looks like the teeth are all chipped. Hard to tell with the dirt. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Rebuild the diff and when you put it back in the case, use thick grease to seal the case. @Primarrma has YouTube videos on how to do this and keep the case sealed. He runs in fine sand so it was very important for him.

I was thinking ground plastic from the inside of the case, but it's hard to tell what's torn up and what's just more dirt.
And I agree with Bam, that gear shouldn't look like that. How long were you running it making noises like that?

It didn't even make noise while running, only if I turned it by hand.
Wow, that's a lot, so yes, it shouldn't be metal. But as said, rebuild the diff. There is also a gearbox gasket available to put underneath the gearbox : https://www.ebay.fr/itm/Arrma-Krato...667918?hash=item3b19d82c0e:g:PF0AAOSwzVhbXQz2
Sadly, I live in Europe, so ebay is not an option. But I will take a look at some gaskets.

I had this same issue. It's in my post history. I fixed it by putting a small bead of silicone on the bottom of the gear box before installing it. I also put some grease on the gearbox where the bearings seat. This helps as well.

The dirt in the rear diff happened to me twice on my senton before I used the silicone. It wore my gears down so much that they had to be replaced. Horizon sent me the parts under warranty.

make sure you tight the diff case to the chassis... also, as others suggest ducktape/gasket/silicone may help isolate the inside of the diff case...
But from those pics it seems that your gears are destroyed... the input pinion looks so worned out that you can see a sharp side on the right side of each teeth. each teeth should look simetric.
I'd replace both crown gear and input gear for sure...

I don't think all that dust is due to metal wear... But part of it definitely is. I'd say that once the gearbox starts to trap dust/dirt, gears should wear much faster...
Try the magnet as @LibertyMKiii suggested... also check the inside of the gearbox for wear...
Another thing that may help you finding the problem is to remove entire gearbox and check if the part of the chassis were the gearbox sits has dust. Hope I made myself understandable :p
If your gearbox is well tight to the chassis you'll see that the zone were it sits its pretty clean and you should see the perfect mark of the gearbox base in the chassis...

Hope this helps :)

It's 7.5 Euros shipped, why wouldn't that be an option?

If you can't order the gaskets you can go to an auto parts store and by a roll of gasket material. Then trace the case onto the material and cut it out. Might not look as pretty as store bought, but it will do the job.

Is it really just me?

Why isnt there ANY grease in that whole housing?

Might be the weirdest thing to do.. But to determain whats in there.. Just have a taste.. You will taste the difference between plastic or dirt.. Promise you that!
