Looking at a 3S Basher for my kids and maybe me as a fun jumper but don’t plan on ‘sending it’

Plan to keep it stock or as close to as possible! Don’t mind so cheap easy mods but ideally as close to stock as possible.

My LHS had a old shop shelf model (cannot remember which but it was on the older tatic system and annoyed I didn’t grab it when I had the chance)

So options/opinions please

If you talk about 3s, it is about the 3s BLX right?

Both car are same excepted a longer wheelbase for the BRCC and narrower wheels. The BRCC doesn't do wheelie easily and tend to rollover easily. I put the Granite wheels and it is better with the larger tires. The Granite is surely more fun as it is more acrobatic, it can do backflip more easily too. But the BRCC is surely less tail happy then the Granite.

For me the 3s BLX are less strong than the 1/8, i wouldn't call them bullet proof. I changed the front bumper for a T-bone, the front hub carrier are GPM aluminum and the front CVD are also GPM. I just did a bashing session on a hard ground with many bad landing and now the truck don't break. I forget to mention that my shock absorbers still leak and need to be changed.

+1 for the Granite, it's a few bucks cheaper and you don't have to pony up on better tires if that even matters.

I’m going to buck the trend here and say the longer wheelbase on the BRCC is a bonus when it comes to easier handling for a new driver. The Granite is a wild thing. When I stretched my Granite using a BRCC chassis it was much more stable at speed.

I never owned the BRCC tires, but I didn’t care for the Granite tires either. They had OK traction, but they ballooned too much for me and it made it even harder to control it. I upgraded to 17mm hexes and ran Badlands MX28s.

MX28's balloon badly.
Not as bad as the Fortress did, at least for me. And it seems like the Fortress balloon into a pizza cutter thin line, where my MX28s seem to balloon into the center knobbies, which is a wider block. I’m probably splitting hairs with this argument but I seem to be able to control my trucks on MX28s a lot easier than most other tires I’ve tried.

When you want to backflip you get mx28’s. Ballooners!
@jondilly1974 i picked up some of your street tires for my granite on eBay yesterday. Can’t wait to try them out when they get here.

I own the BRCC and would recommend going with the Granite. Dial the punch setting down if it wheelies too much (y)

Standard / classic Trenchers on the Granite (12mm adapted from robbing my $$$ gone Slash) and they're pretty fun so far. They balloon but just right imo for air control.

I put Trenchers on my Granite also (12mm hex) they do balloon but for me my Granite won't be doing speed runs. I did put a 3665 3190kv motor in with a 20t pinion but quickly found out speed with the Granite just isn't for me and the power for me just made it harder to control (not much throttle discipline). Just like it's SWB the Granite for me is only driven in short distances. I like the Granite tires but the sidewalls on the tires are just too thin.

Either of the two are great, although I’ve only had the Mega 4x4 granite one for my son and one for me. I kept his stock so he can learn to control it. After a couple of months I than upgraded mine to the 3s blx100 esc and motor, 2s and 3s lipo batteries, HD input shafts, 3s/4s diffs, and proline badlands(non MX28) tires on rpm rims 14mm hex’s. I then got the adjustable blx motor mount, a bunch of pinion gears and got it to 58mph+ on 3s.

I have a big rock due to the longer wheelbase so it doesn’t wheelie as bad still does just more on demand but also needs tire upgrades and a wider stance so after all considering what I’ve put into it I already wish i would have ponied the extra 100 for the outcast4s just my thoughts probably go for outcast 6s to get into the 1/8 scale soon when I learn better driving skills

I recently faced the same Granite v BRCC decision and went BRCC. I love it, I like the stability of the longer wheel base. BUT I ended up swapping out the tires for slightly wider ones, so as others have mentioned here you might want to count on that if you want to increase stability when turning at speed.
