Great job! I’m really glad to see this... After much debate between the Slash and the Senton Mega, I ordered a Senton mega from my local hobby shop (pick it up this weekend). Ive heard how well the Arrma products handle and how tough they are, but heard the diffs are breaking on brushless set ups. I figure it’s only a matter of time until the aftermarket catches up on new models... Will keep this mod in mind, sounds like it’s holding up for you.

Would like to see a video when you get a chance.

Big thanks!
J

I had to open the diff to replace a broken outdrive. Yeah, I hit a tree & the outdrive actually broke. The plastic driveshaft was strong enough to rip it right off. Maybe I should heat treat them. Anyway, there's just a bit of bearing grease in them, nothing special.
Hey Man I really like the creative thinking you put together for the outdrive fix.. I went brushless with a Castle Creations and broke it on 2nd battery. I spend some time wrecking my head after I put together the SAME setup you did to try and keep my Granite running. I have issue hoping to get your inside... My rear wheels don’t roll freely and my truck is running 1/3 of the speed it did before. You have any input on why my rear wheels are so hard to turn? I loosen the slipper clutch all the way out.. all in and 3/4 turn out... still no success?
Thanks in advance..

Make sure the diff spins freely b4 you put it back in. The bearing are a bit difficult to put back on the gear. You have to get the first bearing to rest on that small ring lip at the base of the gear. The gap should be only wide enough to side your fingernail into. Th 2nd bearing sits @ the end of the gear shaft, completely over the pin. Align the 2nd bearing to fit the diff housing. Also DON'T completely tighten the 2 diff housing screws. The diff needs to freely spin b4 you reinstall it.

Hey Megasty... thanx for the quick response. I had done all of the above except leaving the diff housing 4 screws with a slight less tension. One thing I changed back was my 14T pinion gear and removed the 17T... I took it apart about 5 times until I had it back to KICK ASS mode.... one last ?.. I noticed you have 1-3 washer between the spring and housing of the splitter clutch? What does that due for performance? And also what is your setting for the slipper clutch? Arrma says full tight and turn it out 3/4 turn?

Thanks Again
Happy Smashing

My slipper clutch was modified to accommodate an Axial Yeti 32 pitch gear spur. I had to re-work it several times & haven't posted it's 'final form' yet :p But I actually had to mig weld the washers together. The washers were slipping against each other in the clutch when only the spur needs to slip  The actual design of the spur doesn't intend on a heavy steel gear so I had to overtighten it & lock the cap with a screw pin.

Anyway, OoB the truck come with the spur tighten exactly half way. So wrench it fully then back out 3/4

I think i'm going to need to do this. I put in a Castle Creations sidewinder 3 brushless system in my Granite Mega 4x4. I few min into the first run the rear end goes out. I have not open up the diff yet to see what the exact problem is but i'm betting its the input gear. That was only on 2s:/ Megasty, I would buy one of these custom rear input gears off you! Would you sell one for $20?

Sure thing, just open it up to make sure it's the input gear. I have a few extras made up with the hardened axle & bearings. You can start a conversation & I'll give you my info.

Looks to me like I just need to replace the input gear?

Megasty if you're willing to build and sell some I will be interested in picking one up. I just got a granite about middle of this month and don't wanna tear that thing up. Wonder if you could find a company to sell this design too.

Megasty, I got the gear you made me. Thanks so much! It works great! The best $20 I've spent in RC. Now I've busted a front shock flew into a brick planter at full speed. So I pulled a shock off a 20 year old Team Associated RC10 and but it on my Granite 4x4 as a temporary fix until I can a new arrma shock.

Glad to hear it. As for the shocks, they're garbage. The perch idea is sound, but they're way too weak. It uses 105mm front, 115mm rear. You can go up to 110f, 120r since they are easier to find. The Typhon/DEX8 shocks fit perfectly. Some of the Losi 8ight replacements fit but they are a gamble since the older models use smaller shocks that won't fit.

I would love one as well ... let me know plz..

@ChadFury I run these on my boys Granite 4x4's https://www.ebay.com/itm/ALUMINUM-F...-B-TEAM-LOSI-1-8-8IGHT-2-0-BUGGY/332187998554

You just need to use something in the top eyelet, as it is bigger than the stock shock pivot ball. I used some round rubber server mount grommets I had they are like the round rubber ones in this pic:

Basically I put the rubber grommet over a stock pivot ball and then put them in the top eyelet, the groove around the grommet actaully helped hold it in the eyelet. Worked pretty slick.

TT

I finally found the part numbers for the shocks.

They are HSP 81002 & HSP 81003

Just search 'HSP 81002 81003' on the bay & you can get the whole set in most colors:

New guy here, been lurking a bit and decided to take the plunge on a rolling chassis off ebay. I've got a Kinexsis 3000kv system to put in it and am worried about it wrecking my input shaft. It wrecked the coupler of my Everest Gen7 driveshaft after 2- 2s battery runs bashing around the yard with 5" tires and a large pinion.

Megasty, what type of 2-part epoxy did you try to fill the hollow? I think I will try the same, but find that a lot of time plastic "bonder" works better to meld to plastic.

Which chassis did you get off of Ebay? The only ones I have seen are listed similar to a slider, but when you look at the description carefully, and the pics, there is no driveline. No driveshafts, diffs, etc.

I tried the epoxy at first but it led to more problems. It works fine w/o it. Recently, a few guys have made the gear but it failed. Both of them used larger pins than the 2x10mm pin I used which probably contributed to the failure. I'm still using the 2nd gear I made that has no epoxy & the 2x10mm pin. It has runs on it up to 6s, but mostly 3-4s.
