Was wondering how warm a lipo may get? Or do they always get warm/hot?

Years ago was using hardcase 2s and 3s lipo’s. Never noticed they where getting warm. My soft case gens-ace-r-spam 4s lipo’s do get warm/hot. Not to hot to handy tho 😁

Depends on where you put it. Inside a refrigerator, they stay nice and cold. Inside your oven they can get quite hot..... 🤷‍♂️😂😂

J/K like Slick said, 140F is the ceiling on what you want to see. If they are getting that hot, then they aren't good enough for your setup and style of driving. Investing in better packs will solve that. They don't have to be the most expensive to be better quality or better suited for your use. Sometimes the most expensive are actually crap.

Thanks using gens-ace-r-spam Bashing series lipo’s atm. don't think im hitting 140f. Guess i need a tempgun to monitor things a bit better 😅

For reference 140*F can burn your skin in about 5 seconds.

If you're not a manly man that is 🤣😜🤘

I have gotten rather good at judging temps by hand. I usually go back and look at logs and rarely am off by 10F.

I use the hand test a lot, if I can hold my hand on it for at least 5 seconds it is under 140* if I can't then it's too hot.

I hate the ones where your finger leaves some skin behind.

I've never had anything get that hot and touch it. I could tell this one was going to be too hot to touch before I even tried.

I just yesterday measured the temps of my batteries for the first time. They were 119 degrees. Waited until they reached 85 to charge them after running. Esc was the warmest stock fan 129 degrees. Motor was only 98 degrees dual 40mm fans. Ambient temp 84 in Florida .

ive been welding for so long that the hand test doesn't really work in my case at all. I can take a motor at 200 degrees and hold it in my hand. Needless to say i carry a temp gun with me.
