I am cleaning the power module on my Big Rock BLX v3 and motor. I found a new motor mount for my Granite BLX 3S that I bought as a backup or accident. Personally, I like the holes on the Granite plate and it takes the guesswork out for the newbie here. I never had a mesh issue with the Granite using the fixed holes and don't want to really fight with the newer one that has open slots.

I will clean the motor and change the bearings but when I put this all back together. Questions are:

  • Is the older plate pictured for the pinion holes stronger than the newer v3 motor plate on the BR? I heard that not sure if that is true.
  • If I use the older plate, would you expect or heard any mesh issues with the 15T pinion
Thx

Supposedly the BLX adjustable motor mount is billet aluminum vs stamped on the fixed. I am not sure what qualifies as billet at Arrma, but I don't think they are much stronger than the stock fixed mount.

Honestly get a Hot Racing mount. More durable that the Arrma one

I bent both the fixed and adjustable motor mounts, so if there is any difference it's minimal. I also preferred the fixed because I didn't have to worry about the mesh. I'd say stick with the fixed if that's what you prefer. I'm using an M2C now, but if you don't have a problem with bent motor mounts, it's not necessary.

I just installed Hot Racing mount on my Senton. You can tell it's a better grade aluminum than the stock Arrma. If never ever want to bend it , get the M2C mount.

Does the m2c mount shift the motor further towards the esc by any small amount? I need an upgraded mount but currently need every last mm to slide the power module out.

i bent my HR mount on one battery on a street bash with a light cartwheel. Ill be holding out for the 6mm arrma version or getting M2C when this next stock one bends. Key word, WHEN.
I also found the HR mount to be just as flimsy as the stock one.

Is that an aluminum shock tower brace?

The best solution is to buy a new cheap one if yours is bend and build something to put underneath your motor to stop it bending the motormound. The motors are not supported underneath so they can move up and down when you hit the ground to hard.

I was thinking about this the other day...anyone done this or have there been threads about this?

I know this is a problem with the 6s line, but the 3s line has the heatsink providing plenty of support. What is that nitrile ring going to do?
EDIT: After a closer look, the heatsink still leaves a gap.

Look closer. There’s a gap between the motor and the chassis. Hard hits cause the motor to move up and down which is what bends the motor mount.

Stock is stock for motor mounts, I genuinely don't believe one is stronger than the other. As for holes vs slot, if you are staying slot, I'd just pick up whichever you prefer. The 3S line can be a pain in the butt to adjust mesh if you aren't used to it due to the encapsulated design, so the holes might be more useful. TBQH if you are having trouble with motor mounts bending, I'd go with M2C, the HR ones don't seem to be a significant strength upgrade. Additionally the ring around the back of the can to keep it from levering on the motor plate will help. If you aren't having issues with it bending, just pick the stock one you are more comfortable with adjusting.

What motor/ESC are you using? I have a 3668 in my Granite with the M2C mount and it has room to slide out without pinching the electronics module

IMO, the old optional adjustable mount was billet when the 3S cars came with fixed position mounts. But once they made the adjustable one standard, I think they also went to cast aluminum. I think the part number even changed.

Just my opinion, having owned all of them.
