Arrma RC's
So I just put a blx185 in my Traxxas slash 2wd. Is it capable of handling 6s. Can anyone post their experiences with this system?

It will blow your slash apart before you need to think about it getting hot or breaking so don't worry. It'll do anything you want it to. I ran it on 6s for a while and it ruled. My 2wd slash would blow up on 3s so good luck.

I ran 4s with no problem. I am just worried that something will catch on fire or damage.

Will my esc catch on fire or will something damage if I run 6s with the set up on a 2wd slash?

No worries about the ESC/motor. However, I would worry about using 6S in a "SLASH', as this is a recipe for instant disaster (& just another member of the "Permanently Parked & Broken Traxxas Club")

I have seen many people damage the esc or motor on 6s.
Yes, but ESC/motor can be damaged many other ways also, so it does not really matter if it is on 6S or not. ESC/motor can be damaged on 4S, or using batteries with not enough power or mAh, or using very heavy tires, too heavy of a vehicle, too large of a pinion, diffs shimmed too tight, etc, etc. The main thing is to watch temps , regardless if on 6S, or 4S..

Poke around on the interwebz, and you will hear about every brand of ESC failing, catching fire and burning cars down. Go to any 1/8 off road track on race day and you will probably see a Tekin fire, despite them having a rep as 'De Bestmost". Even Castle was called "Castle Cremations" for a while. But Hobbywing is generally considered to be more reliable than most. And the BLX185 is a Hobbywing Quickrun150 with a Arrma sticker and a few menu options removed.

So if I run 6s, all I have to do is check temperatures?
I don't think you understand that the esc and motor is not what you need to think about. I ran my blx on 6s for a while just watch the temps and don't gear it like a retard. but you will ruin your slash in the first second you hit the throttle. its not the electronics that you need to worry about. My slash broke every time I used it on 3 cells and if you maybe have some crazy hd axles that I never heard of and the proline trans you might be able to handle 3s on the reg but I doubt it. Just get an outcast and step into real bashing!!

I run it on 3s and 4s all the time. I was looking to build my senton mega but it just kept breaking parts all the time.

you are putting1/8th scale electronics that are designed to move 10 + lb vehicle with all metal drivetrain and awd system. I don't think the blx185 is even going to feel any load on a dinky little 1/10 2wd slash unless it is loaded with lead weights.
