  1. Talion
My Talion has only a few runs on it. I noticed a gooey spot of oil under the spur gear when it Sat overnight on a table. I opened the center diff and it appears to have enough grease in it. I don't think it's dry by any means. Is this normal from the 1st couple uses due to the grease thinning a bit after the 1st couple uses?

I had the same problem with my diff from new. I ended up switching to losi diff gaskets. LOSA3505. They seem better. The most likely problem is the center diff is getting hot. My outcast would shift all the power to the front wheels. So this means the center diff is zooming. I’m guessing the fluid heats up and expands. Pushes its way past the gasket. I did a few things and got mine to stop leaking:

-use losi gaskets (may not be necessary)
-run thicker diff oil (300k and I’m going to 1M soon)
-fill the diff oil only to top of cross pins. Any more and I believe it’s overfilled and will leak.

I figure if too much fluid is present and expands it pushes the plastic diff cup off the screws since it’s plastic then it’s loose enough to continue leaking. You may be able to try to tighten it back up. Mine leaked again after I only tightened it up. Listen and watch for the front tires to spin. Anytime this happens your puttihg stress on the center diff. Also the more fluid you lose the worse it will unload to the front tires. My clue my diff was low on oil was the front tires ballooned instantly as soon as I touched the throttle.

After you get it back together I recommend checking the screws in the center diff after a run. The center diff in my Outcast was leaking all the time and the screws loosen up just a little. Not loose loose but they can be snugged backed up if you know what I mean after a 6s run. Maybe an aluminum one with some thread lock would be better.

Or use diff oil so thick it can’t leak lol. I’m going 1M next time I pull mine.

how did the screw feel when yo were removing it, did you at least try to feel if it needed torqing?
If I were to pull mine And it was leaky I’d first try to put just a tiny squeak tighter on it just to see if it was loose. The times mine was loose it was maybe a half turn out from good and tight. I don’t push it too much because plastic is easy to strip and the machine threads are tiny. To me the screws are very snug to move until they’re about half way out. I hold the hex driver with thumb and two fingers and tighten real good. Not my whole hand giving it my all just enough so you snug it down but it’ll slip in your hand before it strips. Always err on the side of too loose than stripping it.

I looked up the losi gaskets. It comes with o-rings. Do the o-rings fit as well?

I did put 1m in my center diff. Haha I love it too. Ride wheelies for days and blow donuts with ease.
I run 500k in my outcast, it will still unload the front some. Still get easy wheelies all day long.

Mine was seeping when I took the diffs apart to shim them after 3-4 4S runs as I had to wait for the shims/oil to show up. I didn't touch the diffs until I got the parts/oil. Just ran them stock out of the box.

I cleaned it all out, was careful to not damage the gaskets/o-rings, put in new shims on the X-pins and added shims under the sun gears, then put in 500k associated oil (100k front/rear). I've run the jibblets off that thing over the past 2 weeks and the center diff is dry as a bone on the outside.

I probably ran over 20 cycles through it. Bashed 6 days out of my 9 days off and each day ran through at least 3 full cycles.

I know it's dry because I pulled the center out to replace the pinion with a 14T last night only to find I was shipped another 15T... Was inspecting for leakage, bearing wear, cup wear. All still looks like new. Pinion is a little banged up, but not bad.
