Hey guys!

So I’m looking at either getting an Arrma Granite or Senton both the 4x4 BLX versions. I was wondering which you guys think makes a better basher? Not doing any racing or anything like that, just bashing on road and off. Thanks!!

I have both and I would defintely go with the Granite. Larger tires and more ground clearance gives you more places to bash. You can stunt more with the Granite as well.

For off-road bashing, and jumping - Granite. Bigger tires wins.

For on-road and high speed bashing, Senton. Low COG wins. Long chassis helps too.

Note - I have a Granite 4x4, but I don't have a Senton. I do have a Typhon, and several other brand SCT's, both 2wd and 4wd, though.

Have the same dilemma, @bicketybam, how would you say is the difference in handling when in high speed? like on road? doesn't the longer chassis and the lower LCG benefits the Senton more in these cases?

I think the Granite handles great. The OP asked which would make the better basher. My definition of bashing is driving off road and jumping. Now if you are looking to do high speed asphalt runs, then the Senton is probably a better choice. But if you want to send it, the Granite is tops.

I agree with this. Also the Granite probably flies better because it doesn't have the giant parachute of a short course body.

Thanks for the info! Would you suggest a 2s lipo or just go straight to a 3s? I don’t have a ton of experience, but I had a xl5 traxxas rustler back in the day and definitely wanted to go faster.

The truck is very tough. Personally I would go 3s.

I'd get the Big Rock over either. Big tires to run over stuff and long chassis for stability.

Great point. How many basher SCT's out there are running 2.8 MT tires? Loads of them, and not just the Arrma trucks. Big Rock gives you the size of the SCT, but with a MT body that will still let you jump.

I have a Senton that I swapped out the wheels for the Granite and it raises the ground clearance for bashing, but the downside is at low speeds on 2S it cogs bad due to the 20T pinion.

I tried the 20t in my Granite and the coming was so bad that I thought something was wrong with my ESC and/or motor. The top end was nice, bit the cogging from a start made it kind of unpleasant. I went back to the 15t. I'm going to try 18 when the adjustable motor mount becomes available.
