General RC Information
Figured I'd get this one documented just in case I end up trading it in the near future. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the thing but I've got a few off road rigs and the DBXL-Es have been getting all my attention lately. First things first, obviously this thing is not doing what it was meant to. Below is a play by play of the build process.
Started the build on an Infraction V2 chassis. Yanked out the entire front and rear suspension/drivetrain (installed on my street Typhon which I'll try to get posted up as well) as well as aero components. Installed Kraton EXB v2 differentials+housings front and rear, stock fluid weight. Initially I installed Typhon shocks, towers, arms, and Kraton hubs from my truggified Typhon. Those shortly came back off, as the Badlands MX28 HP belted tires I was running would rub the body at full steering lock. Current setup is Talion V3 towers F/R (Just Bash It), Typhon shocks, Talion arms/hubs, Kraton wing mount, and Talion wing. RPM Kraton front bumper for a false sense of security. I feel like the Katar T belted tires fit the build and I like the way they drive so I've stuck with them.
Electronics are the stock AVC receiver paired to my DX5 Rugged, AGFRC A81BHSW 35kg servo, Castle Mamba Monster X 8S esc, Castle 1717-1650kv motor, and 20p/46s gearing. Primarily run 6S but I have run it on 8S on some Sweep VHT Crusher slicks.
As far as how the build went, everything dropped right on except for the rear arms when swapping to the wider Talion arms. I had to shave about ~5mm off the chassis on the front side of the arms because they would hit when trying to lower into the fully drooped position. Body mounting on these builds is always interesting but I was able to use the Limitless V1 rear and front body posts (rear post mounts needed to be spaced about 4mm towards the front) and ended up cutting maybe 3 inches off the rear of the Limitless body so it would drop in on the front side of the rear shock tower.
Pictures include a few references such as the truggified Typhon and my other off-road "Limitless" build (Fireteam chassis) to put this rig into perspective. I would describe it as a low, level, and fast driving style. I'm sure it CAN flip but it just wants to fly level and I'm ok with that. I only bash it, but I would be very curious to see it navigate a track because it handles beautifully, at least to my standards (low, lol).
Enjoy the pictures and if there is more info anyone wants, let me know!
