I'm worried with the girth and weight of my car(19lbs) plus runing heavier 1:5 scale wheels I'm putting too much stress on 1/8 servos and thinking about going to a 1:5 size.
Just looking at the servo in my dbxl-e compared to the one in my custom strestched Kraton there is a huge size difference.
Has anyone attempted or done such a thing?

I dunno but you definitely don't need a 1/5 servo. Tons of people use smaller servos in the xmaxx/xrt just fine, including me. You're better off just buying a really nice servo imo.

^ this is what I have in my 1/6th scale XRT and it's amazing and is better than the 1/5 servo in my kraton 8s/DBXL/o8s.

You could also go with pro modeler servo but I think the NSDRC servo has even better specs and a little cheaper.

Power HD 65 Servo for me..... I recommend..... Prices have went up since I got mine for $50 shipped to me.... There are servos that are faster..... there are servos that have more power..... but $55 on Amazon delivered..... mine is fast enough and definitely got enough torque....

I am using it in my 30 lb K8 EXB, by the way.....

That price is nuts considering it has worse specs.

Curious though on the 19 pounds, how on earth is it that heavy?
That’s what I was thinking 💭! My XL kraton weights 9.5lb with no wheels or body. It’s almost 14lb with wheels and body.

If yours is 14lb I can see his being 19. He is using 1/5th scale wheels which are a helluva lot heavier. I assume he using 8s too which is heavier than 6s as well. Especially if he using some nice sized 4s packs

I even fitted spare dbxl-e steering shafts on it.

Wow, that looks amazing!! I can't imagine the time and other re$ources that must have gone into that. I think I'd be too scared to drive it. It would be so cool to see a video of this in action!

I'll confess my ignorance that I didn't even realize there were 1:5 servos :) The biggest I've ever used are what I've heard called standard size, like what are used for 1:8.

Looking at the specs of that linked Power HD I'm a bit jealous of the specs available for $55, IF you can accommodate the physical size. But for aircraft it was the same way, it costs more to get a mini servo that performs like a standard-size servo.

Thanks man. Runs like a bat out of hell. But I think the servo I put in even though it's a very high grade is just not up to it. Granted I bought it 3 years ago so it's specs: aren't as heavy duty as things are now maybe.
I think you won't be disappointed with one of the two servo I mentioned. If I could put that NSDRC rs1 servo in my dbxl e I would in a heartbeat. I send my rigs pretty good too and it's survived no problems. I think my XRT has to be a good 23lbs and I was using the kraton 8s exb tires which are even heavier than the mashers =D

I think I will just go back to a standard, more torquier servo by ProModeler.
I'll get their kit with the battery pack and PnP wiring.
Just have to decide which one.

I have never had promodeler, but I have heard a lot of food stuff about them....

They will be on my short list for replacements for the K8 or the Mojave

Yes, be aware of it's size compared to the compartment it is supposed to go into....

I've had mine for a year, no complaints as yet.... Never wished it had more torque...

Never had the need for it to go faster.... But that's just me...

The other folks recommended some good servos.... I'm satisfied with what I got....

I can see that. My Fireteams almost 17lb’s so 19lb makes sense.

I Just put S905 1/5 into 1/8 kraton. Stressing the heck out of truck but works . Don't forget to use padding for shock damping and impact

I’d go with the 845. Still tons of torque, but way faster. Dedicated power source is mandatory, though, but since you’ve already decided to do that you’ll be fine. Save your ESC’s BEC for fans!
