Kraton 16T On Kraton

Hi was wondering how hot a kraton gets with 16T on 6S.

will I need a heatsink/fan for motor.

I just find it strange how the kraton comes with the 14t as option gear and the outcast the 16t.

I wonder if outcast users have heat issues.

I run a 16t but I don't have the stock motor.
But you can expect temps to rise a bit but just monitor it throughout your run. Obviously, the terrain your running on will also effect your temps. Tall grass and a heavy trigger will make for a hot motor! And a fan will never hurt if you have one to put on.

You could go higher if you want, the drivetrain can hold it, the problem is the motor temp. Just be awere that gearing up will make the motor heat up faster and higher depending on how long / surface / trigger-happy you are.

In my case I know that with the Kraton I would run like 13t-14t else I'd get too hot quick.

I would think the Outcast is lighter than the Kraton so that could be one reason. Also the Outcast is a "stunt truck" so the increased speed the 16T pinion is designed to help flip rotation and increase control in the air. Of course running the 16T on the Kraton in the Grass or heavy dirt could heat you up pretty quick. A cooling fan is a good preventative upgrade. I have not done that yet, but I also run only the 14T, as it is plenty fast for my uses.

Do it !! I put the 16 in straight of the bat no probs yet. But yeah it winter in aus !!

Where I am the winter average is around 6 degrees C to 14. Cold bro! I'm guessing u guys get a bit more extream temps ?

Lol spoiled! That's a nice spring day here in the Chicagoland area. As long as it's above -17c or so, I'm a happy a camper

I was overheating the ESC to shut down point on 15t. I'm good now at 13t with upgraded fan on the ESC (MMX with WTF) and Motor heatsink / fan.

Describe this "winter" thing you have in Aus

In western Aus at the moment we're having 2c at night/morning.. But days are around 20c... Once the rain starts and real winter comed it will max out about 10-12c during the day. Thats cold when summer is 42+ !

But back on topic... I finally got to run my kraton with the 14t last weekend. Motor never got passed 59c runing on dirt/gravel/grass at the local park and bmx track on 4s. Esc was around 30ish.

Just give it go and check the temps as you go.... Forget about it in summer tho. I ran 6s with the 12t on a hot day... Battery puffed, motor was 70+c and esc was the same....
