Hi all.

I'm changing the pinion gear (after the usual battle to get the over thread-locked original one off ?). I’m new to this and can’t decide which way round it should go - with the grub screw nearer the motor, or further away. I can get good mesh either way but I’m leaning towards with the grub screw nearer the motor (opposite to how it came assembled) because otherwise the grub screw is a bit close to the end of the motor shaft.

Many thanks in advance.

As long as the pinion meshes properly and doesn't rub on anything I wouldn't think it matters much. I put the grub screw closer to the motor just in case it starts to come loose. Gives a little extra time so the pinion doesn't come off or start to damage anything.

Grub to the motor side... The gears wont line up with equal coverage... At least on the Kraton 6s... when the gear is opposite only half the gear actually will mesh, so it will likely shred with that little engagement, IMO...
