Anyone try running 4s through the 3s 3200kv blx on any of the 3s platforms. I just tried. The esc powered up and had steering, just no throttle.
I'm curious to see how well the 3200kv motor can handle 4s

Are you running the BLX100???

The ESC won’t run 4S but if you swap for a 4s capable ESC then you will be able to. The 3200kv motor won’t last as long on 4s tho. It would be fine for short speed runs, but bashing it will burn out quickly. Best to get the 2400kv motor to match the BLX120 ESC.

@jondilly1974 is that 2400kv made by hobbywing? Is it a 40mm unit? In my typhon I'm running the max10sct and when running 4s using a surpass 2050kv with a 26t pinion. Tbf works a dream but still gets hot!

It’s the motor that comes in the Arrma 4S trucks. It is what they pair with the BLX120 and I believe it is a 3660 can.

yes I'm running the 100 blx. I figured I would need a larger esc just didn't expect it not to allow the 4s power through to the motor. I've been looking at couple of different combo's (castle hobbywing). I wanted something a little different other than the 120 and 2400 setup. Like you said it's the 4s setup. I've already got a kraton 4s and love it so I don't need another one, right? I wan't the Typhon to be unique. I know the 3s and 4s series all run the same diffs what is it 37/13 I think. If I'm wrong please correct me. Yeh so I was thinking about trying out a 2600kv or 2700kv motor not sure what brand esc I had a quicrun10 bl120 I didn't cut the mustard lost reverse after a couple of runs and couldn't find a program card that would work on it or a settings schematic It would show 9 different settings but who knows what did what and the size of it I thought it was built for 18 scale I have a Goolrc 60 amp bigger than it. So if you have ANY SUGGESTIONS fill me in. I might even be up for a killmode (little too big) but you get the jist

Nice. Have you got metal shock tower reinforcements?

Gpm shock tower covers..gives you more adjustable shock positions.top motor is my favorite-4068.middle motor is stock blx100 3660.bottom motor is 4074 stock 6s motor I run when in GRASS or off roading.

40mm motors are the way to go,above 3s anyway,above 2000kv a must.

Need those shock tower covers in my life. Have you got the GPM part number? GPM get some stick on this forum, but my diff yokes, hubs and carriers and tie rods are GPM and honestly ive been v impressed.

In my typhon (Mega to start but now 3-4s) i run (general) 3200kv HW 3660 on a 17t, arrma 3s stock on a 20t and a 4068 surpass 2050kv on a 26t.

They make raising an lowering truck easy.i put powerhobby duel fans on my 4068.keeps it cool.ive ran 6s on my 4068.she takes it.big parking lot on 6s with 26t is insane..2650kv on 6s just keeps building rpms. The difference between 4s an 6s on 4068 is astronomical.you decide to go bigger get a quicrun 150a.perfect esc for 1/10 arrmazzzz

I've kinda shyed away from surpass motors. Tried them once it didn't last more than a minute. Mind you it was 1/18 scale motor but quality and size shouldn't matter. I hear you all raving about Hobbywing but then again I must had a run of back luck with the quikrun 10bl 120 because that took a dump too after a couple of runs. However I've had no problem with stock Arrma gear 100/120/185 esc's 3200/2400/2050 motors all run like champs, well almost all 1 3200 bearings went bad.
I must say though I have a 3660 g2 4000kv Hobbywing sensorless in the Typhon now with 20t pinion on 3s with the stock 100blx.
Got it up to about 60 but I think my gps telemetry meter was kinda wonky and not giving me a true reading beacause 2 days prior I had my 4s Kraton out dunning 63mph Stock!

In my experience,it's the opposite.burned up 2 blx185 esc.i try ALLLLL DIFFERENT SETUPS.BLX ESC shut down on me all the time.TALL gears, grass, they always LIMP out on me,1 blade of GRASS will stop the fan an poof.3,4,6s only.my quikrun 150a 2,3,4,5,6S 20$ cheaper than blx has been throu hell, right now I got it in my monster lifted mojave pushing a 4092 with 21t.yesterday i had esc,4092,batteries smoking hot,1 battery had blowout soon as i walk into my kitchen.scard the **** outa me.sounded like a firecracker going off.also hit concrete pole going over 50mph.quikrun esc an motor only electronics to servive.i spend 1000$ per year on hobby if I can Grin ear to ear from the performance of a 40$ motor,HELLYA.I GOT A 4068,4076,4092 SURPASS MOTORS AN HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ONE,AN IF I BURN IT UP O-WELL.EVERYBODY HAS THERE. I'm all about ridiculous power for cheap.ill stick to my 130$ 6s systems
