http://www.duratrax.com/chargers/onyx/dtxp4225.html @WoodiE would this be decent I'm only charging 2s LiPo's have 4 of them? A dual charger seems to be over kill! I figured I'd comment here instead of hijacking the budget LiPo thread!

Since you don't care about the dual charging, of the two I would pick up the Duratrax for the sole reason of being a 60 watt channel charger vs a 50 watt charger of the Dynamite. That said either are decent starter chargers.

Could u get the regular deans connector for it looking after looking at the price
I think you would have to spend a bit more on the connectors... I went on amazon to get the great planes banana to deans plug
[DOUBLEPOST=1464751815][/DOUBLEPOST]here is a link to the charge leads... make sure the seller is Liquid Rc because they ship the authentic charge leads: http://www.amazon.com/Charge-Lead-B...464751760&ref_=sr_1_1&s=merchant-items&sr=1-1

That charger is OK, but not great. Duel chargers may seem like over kill now, but wait till you decide to go bash, and realize that to charge all 4 batteries will take 5 hours... Suddenly you will be wishing for a 4 channel charger, or maybe a single channel that can push 20A/300W to charge the batteries at 4c. LOL

I have a 2 channel 50w/channel charger, and a single 60w charger. I am wishing for a duel channel 20a/300w per channel charger... HA!

For a single channel charger, try THIS ONE. Ac/Dc, 20A, 300W. Lots of batteries can be charged at 2c-5c, and this charger will let you do it on those days you want to hit the ground quick.

This man speaks the truth! Buy more charger than you 'need' and it will be cheaper in the long run.

Well after all I'll go with a dual charger cause the hobby will grow for me I'm sure! As it has already

It seem that the first charger is dc only @Jerry-rigged. I def need a ac/dc charger not so much dc def need ac tho.

I am purchasing SMC 4s Lipos 5200 mah . I want to get the Hitec X2 Duo Black which is 109.00.

Specs
Input Voltage: 11-18V DC (100-240VAC)
DC Input: 11-18V DC
Total Charge Circuit Power: 100W / AC Input / 200W DC Input
DC Output Power: 10-100W
Capacity Range: 100 - 50000mAh
Charge Current Range: 0.1 - 10.0A x 2
Discharge Current Range: 0.1 - 2.0A x 2
Discharge Current Power: 10W x 2
Current Drain for LiPo Balancing: 300mA per cell

Is this sufficient for 4s and 6s Lipo packs. I am not racing just bashing.

I looked over the Amazon page for that charger - one question I have - it says 100w dc output - is that shared between the 2 channels, or is it 100w per channel? If it is 100w shared, you will not be able to charge 2 batteries at 1c at the same time.

Math -
4s=14.4v
1c=5.2 amps
14.4*5.2=74.88watts needed for 1c charging.

If it is 100w per channel, then you are good to go. If it is 100w shared, then I would look for more power.

Also, as an FYI, if you stay with 5200mah batteries then for 1c charging-
3s needs 58 watts
6s needs 116 watts

This math (plus I wanted 2c charging) is why I landed on a 20a/300w per channel charger, the Reaktor 300x2 from hobbyking. About $120, but DC only. Then you need a Power supply for another $50 or so.

Yeh. Thanks. I am going to go with a higher wattage charger. Now to find one thats around 300 watts or so that also offers dual charging and ac as well as dc

How good are the Reaktor chargers. They do make a 300 watt with ac but its not a dual charger. I guess If I decide to go that route I may just have to buy the pwr supply. Its seems cheaper that way anyways.

I am leaning towards this. Anyones thoughts. its 120 watts x 2. 12 amp charge So this should be sufficient for what I am gonna be doing. Starting with the SMC 4s 5200 mah 65 C batteries.

That may be tough to find, especially without spending a lot of money. I know when I was looking into higher powered chargers it was very difficult to find ac powered chargers with high wattage (>100 watts per channel). I ended up getting the power supply from SMC linked below with a Hitec X2 700 DC charger and have been very happy. It would also allow you a lot of room to "grow" with 6s batteries and larger chargers down the road.

SMC does have some higher powered chargers with AC built in, but they are pre-order right now. Also, if the built in power supply fails in the future, you need to get a whole new charger or switch to DC input and get an external power supply.

That "Reedy" charger is made by Ultra Power, and there are tons of rebrands on the market of it, most sell for around $125 - https://www.amazon.com/Goolsky-UP12...511975663&sr=8-1&keywords=up120ac+duo+charger

That one was on my short list when I bought my Reaktor.

If you want an AC/DC, dual channel, big watts charger, I think you will need to look at Hitec. Great brand, but not a discount brand.

This one came out right after I bought my Reaktor. Hitec, 200w, 20a per channel, Ac/DC, $275 - https://www.amainhobbies.com/hitec-400w-ac-dc-balance-charger-discharger-hrc44249/p524132

Hitec is what I wanted to start with. Just didn't know if they had a higher wattage application. Think you. You have been very helpful.

Tower hobbies has this on sale for 149.99 plus I have a coupon for 30 off with my membership car. I think this will be sufficient for what I need. What do you think.

Again, Im not racing. I would like to be able to charge 2 4s 5000 mah batteries, or at most 2 6s but its not so important that I want to spend 300.00. If I can charge 2 batteries in under 30-45 minutes then this is perfect.

At 120 watts per channel, by my calculations you would be able to charge 2 4s 5000mah batteries in about 40 minutes. 2 6s 5000mah batteries would take about 1 hour and 10 minutes with balancing.

I picked up that charger made by Ultra Power earlier in the year and I really like the charger. It is way faster at balance charging the batteries than my old crappy Thunder charger.
It has been holding up great and I use it multiple times a week to charge anything from 2s to 6s.

It balance charges my 5000mAh batteries in about an hour and I imagine it would be faster without the balancing, but I always balance them.

I run isdt chargers. My main unit is the massive t8 charger. It is a 1000 watt charger that can charge 8s at 30 amps. I use a 6 way parallel charging board to charge up multiple batteries at one time. 6 small crawler packs or 4 large packs. This thing doesn't care. Its a beast. I also build my own power supplies. 30 bucks will build 2 of them for 1140 watts.

Any questions just ask.

Charger is $99. Usually on sale for at least 10% off

For what it's worth and it may not be much, I have the Venom Duo charger and have no complaints other than the discharge rate. Normally $100 but I think I paid around $85 new.
