Hello good people,

This weekend I got my hands on a Kraton 1/5 EXB which I paired with the Hobbywing Max5 + 800kv combo.
Using the 39/39 gearing. Incredible beast.

I'm having some heating issues with the ESC.
Is there any aftermarket fan I can use for it?
If I look for one do I just look for the correct dimensions? Assuming it's a more powerful one, how do I know if the BEC can output the necessary amps?

As for the motor, do you use any cooling?
Any brackets available to mount fans? I wasn't lucky finding any for 56mm.
Heatsink is probably not essential as the motor itself is already ribbed for pleasure heat dissipation.

Thanks for the help.

I’ve personally given up on the 45 mm fan that the Hobbywing max comes with.

It’s insufficient in its cooling capabilities more importantly everytime you get a bad landing the stock fan blades break so after years of replacing stock fans, which by the way or costly.

I’ve found these units to be the solution for me.

Extremely durable, haven’t broken one yet and provide massive amount of cooling. They will run off the ESC‘s BEC just like stock. For ultimate cooling, switch your voltage output to 7.4

Those fans are great but the grills are terrible. I’ve replaced them with these without issue

Now mind you it will take a little ingenuity to get it to fit right but once mounted to the heat sink it works great.

You can either buy a 3-D printed max 5 40mm fan shroud from WFO

Or like I did just, mount with extra long screws that grab into the fins on the heatsink. Ugly but works.

I have the GC fans and now build my own after seeing a user here post this fan....it is a powerful fan

You will need to wire it and I wire it the same way to a 3S lipo. It will cool that motor and ESC. My Max6 and on my HW4985\1650kv motor... two on the motor run powerful fans like this.

Yes, the mount to that size will be a challenge....

I use those fans. The metal ones. They are durable and I run them on 4s. They are great.
