Granite Arrma granite Lipo battery

Hello all I am new to the RC world and picked up this Arrma granite
I bought a 2 s Lipo battery and did the jumper switch.
However when I plug in smoke comes out?

Did I do something wrong? I thought I followed
the instructions

Smoke = Dead.

Jumpers look right. And even if they are wrong, the ESC should not smoke.

How old is the truck?

It is brand new just got it

Battery is 5000mah 7.4v 50c 2s1p 37 H

If it is new, then you can contact Horizon and they should replace the ESC.

It was the red box in picture 1. What is it?

The front red box is your servo and behind it is your esc... If it smokes it toast. Horizon will replace it for free when you contact them. I know it’s new... but ? happens with electronics. It’s a very easy fix too once you have the new one.

But to double check if you look at the pic I have the jumper in lipo mode?

Wiring looks fine. Since your going to have to get in there... Below the esc is the receiver box. Buy a better radio to go with it as the stock one is pretty much junk... Dumbo of Flysky GT5 would be a great upgrade radio.

Connection looks fine. And wrong jumpers won't make smoke when you plug the battery in. Something just failed in the ESC, it happens.

If you are in the USA, Horizon does pretty good with warranty replacements. But if you just want to get it running quickly, then grab one of these, then put the replacement ESC in your tool box as spare (when it comes in)
