Hi

Recently purchased an Arrma Mojave EXB with MAX8 Combo (month old from new)
current spec: Hobbywing EZRUN MAX8 ESC Combo With 2200kv, Scorched RC Titanium Chassis, Full PPS motor and diff mount, Ludicrous high power servo. Currently using it with 16T pinion, Sanwa MX6 radio and Voltz 4800MAH 50c battery.

I am finding after around 10-15mins of hard bashing the motor gets quite hot, around 65 Celsius/150F. Does anyone have any motor Heatsink/Fan recommendations? I have looked at the Yeah Racing and Powerhobby Twin Fan Heat Sink and also NTF Racing fans. I have a spare MAX6 so may look into using that instead along with getting a 4985-1650KV motor possibly or a Castle MMX8s and 1717-1650KV or TP motor....although the MAX8 that it came with is almost brand new.

Also looking at getting Scorched RC Inner Fenders / Mudguards and the Shell Roll Cage + Wheelie Bar and M2C (3160) hex extenders

Any recommendations/opinions?
Thanks

I’m no Edison but I think that 2200 is too high a Kv for this rig.
The scorched fenders are great. I just finished installing them. Very firm. Be careful cutting them, it’s easy to screw it up.

cheers,

I bought the MAX8/2200kv setup for my Typhon and am worried it might get hot this summer and that is about half the size of a Mojave. You will want the 1650kv motor instead. Probably a MAX6 instead too.

I’ve run the 1250 Kv from the K8 in the Mojave just a few times. It runs super cool. It may be next to perfect for this rig....I run two big heavy 4S lipos in it so the rig is heavier than usual.

The Yeah Racing or Powerhobby heatsink is the best option for that size motor, they are the same thing just different branding.
I recently bought two of the HR 50mm mounts, ditched their crap fans, added 5V server fans, and they seem ok. You can run a zip tie thru them to keep them in place.

I didn't even know Hot Racing made mounts that big.

I have a spare max 6 and a Spektrum Firma 1250Kv. Your using a 21T pinion and the ARRMA K8s heatsink/fan with the 1250 motor correct?

On 6S a 21T will be pretty slow. On 8S it should be just OK. A few more teeth would wake it up either way.

OK, Does anyone know if a K8s heatsink would fit the max8 2200kv motor ?

I do have a Yeah Racing 30mm booster fan lying around but not sure if that can be directly mounted to the 2200 motor.

Just looking for something temporarily/in the meantime to keep temps down with max8 combo along with dropping pinion down before deciding with MAX6 or MMX8S as the Yeah Racing and Powerhobby heatsink fans are not available in the UK.

Yes, and since it runs very cool I will probably up the pinion.

No the K8s heatsink is too big. Suited to 46mm diameter motors.
