Arrma RC's
  1. Talion EXB
Just retired a my Slash 4x4 from bashing duties and was looking for something to replace it with. I've been wanting an Arrma for a hot min, but couldn't decide which. Top runners were Mojave or Typhon and I Kept flicking from one to the other, never able to decide and then I happened upon RC DUDE81 YouTube vids sending a Talion XL and was hooked. A short while later a Talion EXB, M2C Mojave Chassis appeared and I got to work.

More to come, thanks for looking!

Did you happen to pick up the Mojave center driveshafts?

I have seen a few of the Talion XL builds, looking forward to starting mine sometime soon. Still not sure what I am going to do, but enjoying everyone elses builds in the meantime.

Keep us updated and welcome to the Arrma family.

Nice thing about a Talion XL is that you only need a 157mm driveshaft for the front I think.

Got some paint on the body. Didn't quite go to exactly to plan with window bleeds and not exactly getting the colour I was going for, but we made it work and tidied it up as best we could. I think its turned out fine for a bit of bashing

Added some stickers and decals, did the front windows with some yellow tint film I have around

Then we went for its second run out, first on dirt

I can confirm this is the most shiny and unscratched you'll ever see the body :p

Looking good! Are you running Kraton Knuckles?
No, stock Talion EXB with Mojave chassis.

I changed the tires to Duratrax Blinders and run 4s on our private oval track.

I going to try 6s eventually.

How did you get the fade effect ?

The fade happened by accident. Body was painted candy purple, then I decided to tint the back windows and bed black which is what the darker part of the body is. What I should have done is back it with silver (like the front of the car) then tint things black afterward. A happy mistake ;)

I was going for the candy purple all over, but I'll take the mean fade

I wanted some lights for night runs. I've had light bars and stuff on other rigs before but didn't really fancy that this time round. Stare at the glare  is not the one. I just wanted something that allowed me to work out which way the car is pointing so I decided to mount a few LED's in the roll bar, some whites pointing up and down and some oranges on the sides.

Also plan to add some tails once I can work out a decent place to mount them (y)

I might need help. I couldn't resist the carbon and titainium o_O :p

I went ahead and grabbed a carbon tower brace bar, ti motor bolts, an ackerman plate and some steering bearings from Scorched. Holding off fitting the steering stuff, but fitted the brace and the motor mount bolts while I fitted the 23t ready for a speed run tomorrow.

While there I popped the centre diff out for inspection to find it about a 3rd full, so filled it with 200k and refitted, mesh felt good enough to leave alone for now.

After the widening, I noticed the car sitting lower due to the extra leverage acting on the arms so decided to sit the shocks up in the upright position and added an extra 1mm of preload to the springs as well as setting droop......at least I think I have. Current state of play under the hood

I also drilled the rear wing mounts out and fitted some red leds into it, lets see how long it lasts :)

Got a few more goodies in the pipeline, never had great luck with spektrum motors in the past, so I've a backup on the way ;)

How does it handle with the kraton hubs and longer chassis?
It handles very well. It's got to be be the most dynamic handling car I own. that said, its not perfect. So far I've only added the front hubs and this has made it a little tail happy in certain situations, which can be fun, but I think I will add the rear hubs to the mix down the line. On 4s its quite manageable but on 6s it can be a bit hairy. I wanted to make sure the car turns well and it sure does, maybe a little too well :)

On that note, the tarmac has taken its toll on the Katars. Was fun though :p

Really enjoyed these tyres, may grab another set purely for offroad and save this set for road now. Also have a set of 2.8 Badlands laying around I wanna try out ;)
Love it man! I think a high profile wing mount would really set it off 👌🏻View attachment 219960
Yeah I've got my eye on one of them, wanna break this one first :D

Yeah so someone is lying. Had a few runs and I'm loving the new motor but there is defo more than 50kv difference between them, she rips nicely! Plus this new motor is 8s rated so if the mood ever takes me, we're only a few batteries away ;) ....and a few diff rebuilds  Temps are cool on the 18t so will step it up to a 20 shortly and see how she goes. The only downside I've found is it chews through the battery a bit quicker but you don't get something for nothing!

I also need to find somewhere with enough room to give me the reason to fit this

Addressed the overly tail happy handling with added Kraton to the rear end

Also threw on a new pair of tires and she is ready to go again (y)

Better do this sooner rather than later!
20220612_183349.jpg

Front & rear got a check over. Some, but not much fluid in there. Whats on the paper is what came out after 15-20min upside down. Fresh gaskets, 50k front, 30k rear. I used 1 Shim in rear and the front was left as is.

Needed to do some remedial action on the shell, it was a quick job......wanted to drive the it! I just washed it down and sprayed. After much bashing, flips and tumbles the paint had started to seperate from the shell and you could grab and peel large chunks of it off
20220608_184908.jpg

So I went over it, got as much as I could off, gave it a good key and had a take two on the paintjob. Threw a few extra stickers on to take your eye away from imperfections :p
