It's been getting it :devilish:

Really quite happy with the breakage ratio so far. If I treated my last truck like this I'd have sunk a ton on cash into shafts 'n' arms by now. Apart from wearing tyres out, I've lost a hex pin, bowed a cvd and thats about it. Must try harder :p

20220619_212028.jpg

Last run I noticed two of the tires started to seperate from the wheel slightly. One was only 10mm or so, the other was around an inch. No idea how good this stuff is but I had it to hand and glued those suckers back down.

This is another minor issue really. All the others stayed tight, but this lil guy kept working his way loose.

And I'm done with these
20220619_232119.jpg

Had the body rip off a few to many times. I ran the Proline mounts before to good effect so made a start modding the stock mounts to accept them

Tidied before getting it dirty again :)

Thanks for looking!

Last shot you can see its not got the reccess to hold the LSD plates. Not a massive issue as its actually the bolts holding the plates. Still has LSD action when fitted to the diff.

20220703_231836.jpg

In the stock mount its going to limit the smallest fitting pinion to something around 18T before the mount butts up on itself. Did a few calcs and going from 20/50 to 18/44 is only a 2% difference. So I just left the 20t on :p

Needed to do something about my bowed front CVD dogbone. Could have had a play with a vice and a hammer, but decided to buy more titainium

While they were going in I took the opportunity to repack the wheel bearings, maybe they'll last a little longer

Don't tell them trap guys, but I bought one of these

Took it out for some off road speed runs to see whats what. One of the belted Katars decided to object to the situation.

At least we got a number to work from

Interesting. Never thought of packing the wheel bearing with grease. What kind did you use. Notice any difference between grease and oil?

This is some stuff I actually bought for my mountain bike I had to hand. Juice Lubes Bearing Juice I Think its called. Its about as close as you can get to marine grease without actually being marine grease :) Should do well at keeping water out the bearings when things get muddy.

Short vid of the Katar going bye bye

Got my off road speed numbers up though

Done as best of a job as I can balancing the wheels with what I had to hand at the time. I ended up removing a rear knuckle with the bearings, outdrive and hex still fitted and used that. I have a set that seem to hold together for now. Struggling to get all the power down smoothly where I'm currently running. If I can find a good enough run off road I think there is more left in this setup before I try out my plan B motor
20220708_112014.jpg

I'm in no rush to fit this, but its here and ready when I do need it. Sold off the Spektrum motor and put proceeds to this

Ultimately plan to keep the belted Katars for a high speed bash setup now and find some more off road speed run specific tyres and a propper wheel balancing setup, just swapping gearing and wheels to switch between the too.

Speaking of wheels I did try out the 2.8 Badlands on the truck, but not being belted I'm wary to use more than 4s through them and ground clearance isn't ideal :p

Got me a propper wheel balancer

Then swiftly bought some wheels that don't fit it

Belted Badlands in 3.8 flavour. Initial plans are just to use these for an offroad speedrun setup.

Finally managed to break my wingmount!

For the first time in my RC'ing career I actually went to a track, which is where I did the damage
20220807_155654.jpg

Got the 3DRC Mount to replace it, got 1 high level and one low, refitted the low, which basically puts it in the stock position.

Saving the high for later

Decided to go 8s.......properly
20220907_173936.jpg

20220907_174054.jpg

Some rearragement was needed, but with some dual lock I managed to cram them in on top of each other, slightly staggered so the shell would fit over everything
oynx.jpg

Need one more velcro strap long enough to go around them both and she will be good.

Also got a (for now) shelf queen shell. The old shell was looking a bit tired so grabbed the Proline C10 longbed

Actually think the F150 is a better fit, needed to loose the roll hoop to make this go on. Its-'s not quite as long or wide either. No way it would work with the new battery setup. It'll do for lookin pretty though!

Finally got round to replacing the servo with the Amazon special

20220917_143745.jpg

Will see how we get on with that. Still think I've got a few extra mph and a tidy run to do on 6s, but even if not, we should see some kind of improvements in the future :) Thanks for looking guys.

Well, I can tell you 8s destroys tyres in a different fashion
1.jpg

Ground has got a bit soggy my way, so no speed improvments just yet. Power is there, just need to get it down.

In the meantime I switched out to QS8 connectors
20220914_222958.jpg

Mocked how I'm going to run 8s, as per Mr Shifrin's reccomended way
20220916_153459.jpg

Set up with a single
20220916_154214.jpg

Been having a play with the setup for off road speedruns. Recent changes have been thinning out the centre diff and thickening the front, readjusting droop screws to help keep the front down and the rear shock mod, which is what I think is going to be the most benifical of all
20220925_163713.jpg

In all honesty I may have gone a little OTT with the length of tube, but if I feel I need more travel I can come back and cut them to suit. As it sits it hits the stops with the arms are around level so we will be starting there. Not sure big jumps with these fitted would be a good idea :p
