Soo long story short I broke the front axle and I need a new one I've been thinking about an aluminum one but it might gall on rocks. But I often get front end lift on said rocks soooo.

An aluminum axle housing would just increase rigitidy and durability, but it wouldn't add a lot of weight, so you may need brass portal covers as well to make it more front heavy. (Also, how did you break the axle housing?)

Its a very ridged piece so I think running it in the cold weakened it. But I think it was when a 1inch branch was stopping the wheel and the axle.

I run Boom Racing AR44 PHAT axles on my Axial SCX10.2. Coupled with Samix brass link mounts they add a significant amount of weight down low.

If the link attachment locations are in the same place, yes, but keep in mind that you will lose the portal axles.
