Granite Axle stub screw

My axle stub screw snapped off inside the axle stub. Is there a way to remove the old broken screw head from the axle and put a new one in? Or am I in need of a new axle? Thanks I advance!

I have not replaced or removed those arms in a long time since I have gone with CVD. You should be able to take a 2mm hex wrench and screw it out from the other in through the center of the driveshaft. I had to get longer wrenches for that...

Hope my memory is correct.

I can take the stub off. The problem I have is I need a way to get the broken screw out of the axle to replace it.

The 2 halves would need to be pulled apart to remove the screw.. possibly compromising the assembly..

Like Camaroboy said. Don't think the screw will come out without separating the universal joint and compromising the axle. Better off just replacing the axle.

That's what I was thinking. Just wanted a committee thought on it. I tried a little but not enough give.

Play it safe I can’t believe I just said that. Do you have any left hand twist drill bits? Sometimes that works for the end in the metal. If not replace both bits.
