Hey guys, I ordered some paint for a body and it finally arrived today. I got it all sprayed and realized I forgot to order backing paint. The nearest hobby shop is about 45 mins away, and the soonest I can get paint from Amazon is Friday (2-3 days from now). I don't like to leave projects in limbo if I don't have to. My question is, is there a paint that I can grab from the hardware store or Walmart that will work for simple backing? Or do I have to stick with the Tamiya stuff? Thanks in advance.

I would stick with Tamiya paints. I've tried using various paints from the hardware store as backing and they all end up flaking off. Just my experience so, YMMV.

Edit: I understand you not wanting to leave the knife stuck in the pig but I think you'll be happier in the end if bite the bullet and wait for the right paint to arrive.

Water based? Any light color.

If it’s darker color use a darker color.
I backed everything with white in this one.

Thanks man, I appreciate the advice. I'm gonna go ahead and bite the Tamiya bullet 👍

That blue looks pretty similar to the blue I used, which is Tamiya PS-3. I was thinking of backing it with silver, what color did you back your blue with? Looks like you went with black.

EDIT: After looking at some examples on the interwebs, I think I'll back it with white to keep the main coat nice & bright.

Unrelated...has anyone ever used Pactra paints? Rattle cans....all I ever used back in the day with stellar results.
