Arrma RC's
  1. Granite
Hey all,

New to the forum, have been into RC trucks for 20+ years. Its time to get my 5 year old an Arrma Granite BLX for Christmas.
I am wanting to make sure I order everything right the first time. I am looking at the gensacearespammers 2s 5000 50C lipo battery, it has the deans style connector on it. I need to get an adapter to run from the battery to the truck. Do I need to get a male or female plug in for the EC5 side?

I live in Alaska and shipping batteries is difficult, a buddy recommended me a seller on ebay thatll ship up here and the particular battery Id like only comes with the Deans connector. So I need a jumper adapter from the battery to the truck. Not sure which particular male female connector end I need. I guess I could alwayts buy both since theyre only $5 each.

Anyway, I plan on buying him a set of Proline MX28s for the truck as well, also going to disassemble all the bearings and install rubber sealed bearings for the climate up here. Any other mods you guys recommend? How is the stance on this truck? Saw a few threads where guys would install 12mm to 17mm hex adapters and it would widen the stance up a tad. Thanks for any advice given. Take care

Excellent. That looks MUCH better than the one I was looking at, it had a jumper wire approx. 3-4" long, didn't think it needed to be that long, this one looks a lot better. Thank you for the reply!

The best bet would be to solder an ec5 connector on the battery though.

Here's what I bought. I have deans plugs on most of my smaller packs too.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LYC1QBC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
edit: Actually I use the same gens-ace-r-spam 2s pack you're speaking of.

For my BRCC I'm taking the 14mm to 12mm adapters. Then 12mm to 17mm with the Hot Racing extenders. This will allow me to fit PL mx2.8, widen the stance and get less roll on the turns. Here are the parts I bought:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Duratrax-C...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hot-Racing...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-Line-1...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I buy lots of spares from LiquidRC because he ships very fast and seems to be the best price for everything I'm looking for.

Nice info man thank you!

although the duratrax stuff is out of stock.
im definitely doing the mx28s, they look like killer tread for the loose gravel and sand we have up here.

it looks like amain hobbie sells the mx28s with a 12mm hex wheel..... is the hub adapters and all that necessary?

You have 14mm now so you'll have to get to 12mm. I bought extenders to get the tires out from the wheel wells and get wider stance and be sure big tires won't rub.
There's a video of the trick too. I have the BigRock cc 4x4 but the parts work across the line for the most part.

I wonder if he will ship Lipos to Alaska?

Not sure.
I haven't bought lipos from LiquidRc but have other online sources that have been helpful and fast to ship. I buy SMC lately but one dealer I can recommend has pretty good prices and bundles.

Otherwise I do like the gensacearespammers 2s packs I own and have had some luck with PowerHobby. They made a mistake on a big order I made and were very helpful in giving me bonuses and credits to make it right.
