Kraton Battery opinions??

I think Chinese batteries aren't cheap anymore these days, depending on where you live, so price doesn't say all.

In Europe SMC's or ONYX are super expensive(and hard to get). I can get 3-4 CNHL's for the price of a single SMC. Gens Açe is slightly cheaper but i can certainly still get 2 CNHL's for that price. With speedrunning i've tested so many different brands to their limit (as batteries kinda are the bottleneck) and cnhl(G+/black/racing models) never disappointed me. My stance is buy cnhl unless
I agree with Cnhl being very good. I only use Cnhl for the bigger RC's. But as I said in my post above. People should think about getting the shorter ones these days. As they seem to be making the trays shorter.

Where do Ovonic batteries stand? I was looking at them but not sure how good they are.

I’m mostly a SMC, CNHL and Ace Gen kinda guy. I have Zee packs also and they have lasted but I hardly run em. I also have some 10K mah spektrum 4S bricks for my SS wake. But I’ve noticed? The better the battery the better performance from your rig. But balling on a budget? CNHL has the best bang for the buck. I have a couple of 9800 mah 4s 120c that I run in my felony and it rips.

When I was active with RC planes, Lipos were a non-compromise component. Most would completely avoid the cheap stuff. So based on that, I'll echo what others have said in that you get what you pay for.

Only thing I'll add is to have a good lipo storage solution. Even one of those cheap lipo bags off Amazon is better than nothing IMO

Maybe I'm paranoid or overly cautious, but I don't leave batteries at home. Go with me almost everywhere. Leave elsewhere when not using. 4 batts storage charged, in lipo bag, in vented HF metal ammo box

@LibertyMKiii wrote an Einstein thread about batteries, voltage, and a ton of other things and batteries. Discharge rates… but if you have a monster IQ or understanding of what he’s explaining? That’s your answers to everything. Otherwise? You’ll be reading something that’s completely over your head like mine. It’s extensive knowledge at the Yoda level

How about these fellas. Anyone running these?

The 6200 CNHLs are awesome, I got two of them for my K6. Yes they are softpack so make sure those suckers are tied down tight - a small rock getting stuck under it + a hard smack can really ruin your day. If it were a hardcase there's no way it would fit in there, it's a huge pack!

Thread of an RC plane guy who runs test on batteries. He flies EDFs (electric ducted fans AKA jets) which are affectionately known as flying welders due to their ridiculous amp draws. They look and sound cool, but their efficiency is inversely proportionate to their cool factor. They fully discharge a battery in about five minutes. The only thing harder on batteries are race/freestyle quads that have 3 minute flight times.

His opinions on brands. A couple years old, but still seem to be valid. His opinion of CNHL is pretty interesting.

Personally if I'm going cheap and I don't need high performance I'll go with CHNL. For performance Quad and small plane packs <2000mah I go with the black packs from RCBattery.com. For straight performance I'll go with SMC packs. Really want to try one of their quad packs, but I balk at the thought of spending $40 for a battery I strap to a peice of carbon and huck around at 80mph when the $20 ones make the full 3 minute flight just fine and I can pitch a dented $20 pack without hesitation.
