Right everybody get your nerd caps on..?

So I've got a modded Kraton as you may have seen, I'm running all the usual mods 4092 1650kv/Max6 and plenty of aluminium all over the place..??

I currently use these batteries HRB 6s 6000mAh but have been looking for something lighter and came across these HRB 6s 4000mAh..??

My question is, in the real world what difference am I looking at other than the weight loss..??

Less power/torque, run times etc let me know what you think..??

EDIT : forgot to say both batteries are 50c..
( I wanted to get the Turnigy Heavy duty ones because they are 60c but no stock available ? )

As long as your "C" rating is the same, the only difference you should see is the shorter run time. ←wrong.

Edit: I stand corrected. Don't listen to me, listen to @JvG.

That is incorrect. If the C rating is the same a lager capacity lipo puts out more power.
More continuous current to be specific:

6000mAh * 40C = 240 amps

4000mAh * 40C = 160 amps

Same goes for burst/peak power.

A Hobbywing Max6 is rated for 160A continuous and 1050A peak power.

It's best to have lipo's which provide 25% more continuous current than the ESC.
So you would need at least 200 amps of current from your lipo's.

In this case the 6000mAh would provide enough power, the 4000mAh will not.
It will overheat and swell.
So the 4000mAh needs to be at least 50C.

This is theory off course, C ratings on lipo's are often questioned.

This! ^^ (And you beat me by a minute!)

Sorry :giggle:

I've spent so much time figuring out the whole amps, volt, watt and c-rating thing to just let somebody say "As long as your "C" rating is the same, the only difference you should see is the shorter run time."
Ppl should do their homework or say nothing at all.

I edited my post. Thanks for the correction.

So....
HRB ........ 4000 * 50c = 200
Turnigy .... 4000 * 60c = 240

In that case either the HRB's 4000mAh or the Turnigy's will be ok..??
Is this correct..?

No problem, i'm the nerd here! :geek:

Yep, that should be sufficient.
But as i've stated before C ratings on lipo's are not always a good figure for the lipo's quality.
After owning 30+ lipo's i have good experience with the Turnigy Nanotechs and the best with the Graphenes. The downside is that they are heavy. And more expensive but they last a lot longer than the Heavy duty's.
