Hey cats.....sorry newb here seeking knowledge.

I posed this question on another thread but it got lost in the pipeline me thinks. Is there a limitation or reason why one would not get the highest MAH rated battery?
Is it a weight/dimension issue, or is it an electronics temperature issue?.....or both?

cheers,
Ayatollah JacknCola

Weight and size is the probably the biggest limit.

For bashing and racing you want to stay as light as possible but with enough time to have fun. Sweet spot is in the 5000mAh range or below 800gram. For jumping, the higher weight will cause more damage if things go wrong, inertia is a killer.

If you can get a higher capacity in that weight range with the C rating above ~ 35C I'd pick it any day.

Temps might be an issue on extended runs. You want to give the car some time to cool down as well, ~15-20 min hard bashing will generate some serious heat.

This is not an exact science but good pointers that many people agree on.

Thx @jkflow.
Would one run an 8000 or higher MAH battery in this rig (K8S) or would that be considered overkill?

cheers,
kev

Ya JK....specifically the 8s...... sorry to not specify that initially.

If you’re running a 1/5 scale, you can ignore the limits most of us use. Bash on.
