Belted tires on the Senton?

That would have been a good picture to take.

I was doing doughnuts and heard a loud pop. Noticed a foam had landed in my truck bed. Started looking the Senton over and was checking all the beads and whatnot. Couldn't find anything. Then I finally found a half inch gash right in the middle of the tread of the left rear tire. I mean it blew the foam completely out, sent it flying.

I hope my glue job holds up to 6s power. I'll find out probably tomorrow.

Tires impressed me. Serious rooster tails were thrown. Much more traction than stock sidewinders. No ballooning. Two thumbs up for the belted maxxis tires. Thumbs down on my glue job. It held up fine, but I've got two tires with a wobble to them. I'll do better next time. On a side note, I crashed and broke my front bumper/skid plate. Looking for a good one now.

I have a semi dumb question.. i just bought a senton and every tire i find shows its for slash or others.. what size do i need to look for if i want a tarmac/asphalt only tire ? 2.2 ? or 3.0 ? and is that the rim or inner tire ? Since Arrma is OWNED by Hobbico and Tower is OWNED by Hobbico.. WHY doesn't Tower list Senton or other arrma cars in the tire descriptions.. only traxxas this or that.. or can i just run Slash tires ?

Stock wheels are short course wheels. The numbers are the diameter. The wheels measure 2.2 on the outside and 3.0 on the inside. If you look, you'll notice the sidewall of the tire is much larger on the outside versus the inside. Another issue is the 17mm hub. Most aftermarket short course wheels have 12mm hubs. If you want to put together a tire set for the road, I would look at the DE brand wheels that I purchased and then find some tires that you like to mount on them. I would be sure to tape them to prevent ballooning. Here is a sample of something that could work well for road use.

I have been out of the hobby for 20 plus years.. "taping" ? im assuming thats sealing up the air holes ?

GRP's should fit and they're not that expensive - $50 a set mounted if you're going to do onroad only. May be a hair small for the stock body 'look'.

"Taping" is running some tape inside the tire to belt it yourself. Keeps it from ballooning. There's youtube vids on this.
