I just treated my Outcast to a pair of Scorched diff casings.

I don't have any other to compare to, but the quality is next level and they are the nicest feeling diffs I have ever built by a long way. They were really nice to shim and so far worth every penny

Scorched is my number 1 too, I’ve got them on my FT and Limitless. For the price, it’s hard to pass up the Treal with them being 7075 and coming complete. I wouldn’t even have HR on my list tbh. They are more expensive when you piece it all together, it’s only t6061, and it’s a 5x13x4 bearing vs 5x14x5 on the Treal. I’ve been real happy with Treal, all but their actual diffs.

Ok I’ll take a look at the Treal ones.
The Treal ones have very slow shipping with it being 25-40 days that’s ridiculous but they’re cheaper so the Basherqueen ones will probably be the one because the ship out of USA versus china like Treal does.

I guarantee these are not the best like you requested, but mine has held up great for a few packs now. Fitment was spot on.

Ive bought 6 of these and imo you get what you pay for. All of them had the following bearing tolerance issues.

When tightening the the cover down the 2 differential bearings are squished and bind, not spinning freely anymore because the slots are undersized. I had to grind down with a dremel the bearing seating surface on the cover being carefuly to not do too much and create the opposite problem of too much slop. It took a few tries and test fits until the diff finally spun free.

The second issue, not major but annoying is the input gear bearing slots are slightly oversized. There is minor play side to side. I put a small strip of teflon tape on the bearing outside and pressed it in, then shimmed the input gear on the outside for no axial movement and tightened down the input cup after.

Overall i wouldnt get these again, but so far they have held up in my notorious and typhon 6s. If you're willing to deal with these potential issues and can do the same modifications i did theyre a cheap alternative.

Suppose this was a kraton thread and those come with a wing mount so my bad on the plastic breaking. I run 8.8 hardware in my notorious so the screws bend instead of tearing up the bulkhead on a bonehead landing, tap them to m4 and counterbore the wing-mount if there’s an issue with pulling threads. Or if you have a helical insert installation tool, that is the best of both worlds IMO. Light, cheap, easily replaceable with steel thread strength.

Good discussion, all trial and error 👍🏼

Ive used several brand bulkheads and here are my experiences

Vitavon bulkheads - i have 6 of these, 4 are perfect. The last 2 i got had oversized differential bearing slots, when tightening the cover down there was play in the slot as i could hear an audible click moving the diff. I fixed this with a strip of aluminum tape on the cover bearing surface. Overall these are heavy duty and solid with a much thicker base and tower supports than HR or aliexpress options

Hot racing - 2 of these in my typhon, theyre good but overpriced after piecing them together. Much thinner and 6061 alloy vs the 7075 vitavons.

Aliexpress - see my post above, similar to HR but have bearing tolerance issues. Also they don't seem to be as high quality as the HR in material or finish.

I have not tried the scorched or basherqueen options. Basherqueen bulkheads look identical to vitavons but are made here in the US, imo they probably share the same CAD file/design lol

I can't agree. I've broken quite a few plastic bulkheads on hard landings, sometimes even when the landing looks great.
Same! I run those ali express bulkheads in multiple rigs now and never had a problem with them either. Really great bang for the buck, especially if you have multiple rigs.
Not sure if you were talking to me, but they are Ironman rc. Don't know anything about them. They look like the ones people get from Aliexpress..lol.
I was thinking that before I saw this post and I wasn't going to say anything. The last time I said that about bulkheads someone got mad AF lol.

I had issues with fitment using Vitavon. If you want the absolute best, you want the ScorchedRC model Diff. Secondly I would go BasherQueen, and then Treal would be third.
I know 😅 I had to modify mine… but the scorched
Accepts a bunch. I ordered a set for V2

But I’ve used powerhobby and hot racing. And they have held up pretty well all things considered. But I personally prefer higher end quality over the lower priced quality.

Same, because the return shipping is so much on those Vitavon parts! I ended up just tossing them in a bin because they didn’t fit and spending even more to buy high quality ones I wish I would’ve purchased the first time.

FWIW I have had the same set of Hot Racing gearbox cases since 2018 or 2019. The rear one has taken quite a bit of abuse and I did manage to strip out one of the holes where the wing mount screw goes through the shock tower, nothing a lock nut and a longer screw didn't fix. Also I think I may have tweaked it a little bit, it might just be the shock towers are tweaked but I will know for sure when I get some new shock towers.

This is a good read. I will bookmark it. My 6S rigs stay on the ground for the most part and have little air nothing extreme. Good feedback if I even need to go away from the stock diffs.

Thx

Over time and reading this post I think it is safe to say HR bulkheads are a solid buy only being over priced? Vitavon are great but I have heard to many people mention fitment not always being correct or having to modify to alow other diffs to seat. I think im going to order HR for this Kraton 6s build. THANK YOU ALL for this read

I got two through Amain & used one of their monthly coupon codes & got them cheaper & they shipped out of Charlotte.

Dam You I'm tempted to order these instead of the HR bulkheads! I'm just worried my new arrma 29mm diffs won't fit correctly
Now that I do not know. I have the 31mm cases

I do know that they are very nicely machined bulkheads. Very good fit & tolerances.

Arrma 6S bulkheads are universal for 29mm or 31mm differential assemblies
Thank you!! I think I will and the $80 bucks and go with a pair of treal bulkheads. Only downside is there is only one black and one red, so i'm going to have to get mismatch 😁
