hello everyone, I am wondering if there would be any benefit to swap over to outcast 4s a arms, driveshafts ect ect on my big rock, I've already put typhon a arms, metal crown and input gears, 4s spur and have arrma 3s cvd's on it already, and it seems to hold up just fine bashing on 3 and 4s. I did a little looking around and it looks like arrma 4s cvd's look almost identical to the 3s version.
 
Yes i would have to swap out everything, i guess i'll just have to wait and see if they hold up!
 
I know the 3s cvds hold up to 6s for quite a bit. As I have my big rock run on 6s a lot. More so 4s but have ran 6s quite a bit and they did perfectly good no problems at all for me.

Haven't failed me so far. Been running them since I put the 150a esc and 2050kv motor in . Had to change from stock because I kept twisting them apart from the torque. Have not had a problem whatsoever since the upgrade. Well worth it in my opinion.

I've already put typhon a arms
What version of the Big Rock do you have? If you have the latest version, the Typhon arms are the same as the Big Rock.

Switching to Outcast arms will gain you more stability, you'll roll over less when turning, steering will be less twitchy at higher speeds. Also, if you jump, wider arms help stabilize the RC in the air. If you watch a few videos, you'll notice narrower cars can get a bit twisty in the air.

However, wider arms will also make you turn wider and make steering less responsive. If you watch a few videos, you'll notice narrower RC's turn and steer quicker than wider RC's. Compare a Typhon 6s to an Outcast 6s, the Typhon is a much better handler.

So, if you like driving straight and fast or mostly do jumps, wider may be better. If you like to precise steering and turns, wider will decrease performance.

Thanks for the reply, it originally was a granite and gradually built it into a big rock v3. I might just have to try it out once these cvd's go, I've only had them on for a few weeks. I've had issues with the stub axles snapping off on the GPM styles using 17mm hex adapters so if the arrma cvd's do the same I'm thinking swapping over would eliminate that as well as give it a bit more stability.

The 3s CVD's will do the same thing. The 3s CVD stub axles are just as weak as stock, maybe even weaker, AND they're expensive. It's why I ditched them. I snapped both stock and CVD axles repeatedly. I upgraded to Typhon 3s axles, hexes, nuts. The Typhon axles are much thicker, I have never broken one.

The 4s axles are 5mm, which are thicker than the Granite/Big Rock 4mm axles. But I think the Typhon axles are even thicker. I can only measure the inner diameter of the hexes without taking everything apart. It looks like 6-7mm. Another plus is the Typhon setup gives you genuine 17mm hexes and nuts.

The downside is you have to use stock plastic driveshafts with the Typhon 3s setup, which have the popping U-joints. I've thought of switching over to 4s CVD's and making all the necessary changes, but so far just loosening my slipper has reduced popping U-joints.

yup you're right, stub axle just snapped on me, dropped the truck from waist height and landed kind of awkward and she snapped, i'm almost certain it's these hot racing hex adapters putting too much stress on them. I'm done with the 3s driveshafts next week i'm putting an order in to swap everything over to outcast components, appreciate the part #'s
