My TRX-4 has a few miles and scratches on it, so I decided to try a thing.

I was at the track with my Nephew and someone showed us how to remove scuff marks from an RC using some head light restoring wax. It's a bit gritty, you put it on your clothe and rub the marks and it disappears like magic. So I picked up some

Meguiars plastx to see if I can clean up my TRX-4 Body. I hit with some wet sanding with 400 and 600 grit sand paper, then used the Megquires Pastix

It's a little bit less shine, but there are a lot less scratched. My thought is I need to probably need some much finer grit sand paper 1200-2000 then use the Meguire's to polish it up.

Not sure I will get the deep scratches but there is no reason it can't shine again.

I've used it on my 1:1 plastics in the past. Good stuff. (y)

I thin if you use a polishing compound it would probably burn the plastic. This is not as gritty as rubbing compound, more like a liquid wax.

Okay.
Gotcha. 👌

Thank you for your feedback.

A quick update. I went over the body progressively with 150-1000 grit sand paper. It took out a lot of the deeper scratches. There are some in there that would probably come out if I worked at it enough. Could probably use some more prep maybe a wet sanding process or higher grit might help.

Then I hit it with the Plastx again.

It still doesn't have that shine so I tried some wax and it was maybe marginally better? Not really.

Overall I think the methodology works but it's still missing something to get back the original shine. Also it's a bit awkward to hang to and sand/polish. I tried sticking it on top of an ammo can which added some stability but also scratched in the inside paint.

Pros
- Saves you a bunch of money on new bodies
- Looks better than it did

Cons
- It's some work to get there
- Missing the factory shine
