Took care of the red/yellow/blue on the motor wires with some wire sleeve. Seems like it’s a little loosey goosey, but I don’t know how I could have fit the wire in any smaller sleeve.

While digging through my totes of stuff I found a couple of these, and remembered the max5 has a broken fan.

You have to cut off all 4 corners, but then it fits like a glove once everything is screwed back in place.

Still need to rebuild the front/rear diffs with the aluminum Arrma cups but I’ll get to it.

Well after all the hubbub about the new 8s rigs, I decided I needed to try a little harder to get this thing finished up. I bought this rig used and never bothered doing anything with the front/rear diffs so I figured with a new build, I should probably go through them.

Front looked good

One of the screws sheered off and was stuck to the gear exactly like I found it. Two of the four plastic locator nubs were also sheared off, but no damage inside!

You caught it just in time, a few more throttle stabs and that diff would have grenaded it self. 👍

Yeah, I don’t know how I got lucky enough to not destroy the whole diff. The screw holes in the main gear are definitely a little oblonged so I will have to use one of the new ones out off my spare diffs. Can’t believe Arrma gets $45 for a main gear.

Arrma did a great job filling the factory diffs…

Rear done, and no I didn’t put the pile of grease on the bottom there.

Front done

Secrets out, I didn’t get the A, B, C and D blocks anodized nor the new diff cups. I feel the shame.

Man for that price I would have just bought a diff from jennyrc. Arrma is crazy 😱

Pretty much it…

I vented the trenchers, dyed the rings black and added stainless screws. I’m thinking I’ll ditch the EXB sticker and the sticker on the wing, but otherwise I’m pretty stoked with how it looks.

Looks killer! How did you dye the rings?

Rit dye. Boil some water, dump it in a plastic bucket, add dye, stir, add parts and stir every 20-30 minutes. Mine took forever to get a decent black.

Thanks. I printed and installed black rings but I’m not sure how well they’ll hold up.

But I hope I never see another screw again after switching those damn things over. Tedious work even with an electric screwdriver.

Tell me about it. I’m about halfway done with a set of Badlands I’m also doing.

That’ll about so it for this one. I’ll reinforce this body over the winter and enjoy staring at it and then destroy it in the spring. Bit wet this weekend to take it out for a rip, but maybe next weekend.

Great build and love that colour on the body. Looks awesome. You have to love winter! That’s when I get all my repairs or rebuilds And projects done as well. Then hopefully they last most the spring, summer, fall season for pure run times.
