Can I disconnect front driveshafts and install skis on 4x4 Traxxas/Arrma?

I am thinking about 3d printing skis for the front of my Traxxas Hoss or Arrma Typhon. Would it work to disconnect the front driveshafts to make it rear wheel drive? Has anyone done this?

Keep them connected and instead make working caterpillar tracks!

Yes I have. Just remove the centre driveshaft and you have a 2wd.

Edit: I'm guessing your talking about the 3s or mega Typhon?

I would recommend getting a spool/locking the center diff, so you don’t kill it sending empty power. May seem obvious but I’ve seen the people who don’t…

I think both of those cars come with a slipper rather than a center diff. Tighten up the slipper and it should be okay.

If the slipper isn't slipping in 4wd then there's less chance of it slipping in 2wd due to less load.

Just remember most tracks don't like high rpms.
Try to take that setup full throttle and they will blow up in a hurry. Tank tracks like that would be for crawler type speeds.
