Pinion wasn't unscrewed, slipper was very tightened. Opened it and put it back together and now it works fine. Any explanation to this?

How? I was pressing the throttle the motor was spinning but the drive terrain wasn't.Operator error?
No.Were the two screws that hold the motor plate on the motor housing loose, causing spur gear to slide away from the pinion?
