Castle has currently released some V2 versions of the 1512, 1515, and 1520 .I was wondering whether any of y'all have tried these motors. If so, are they actually much better than the V1s?

Thanks!

Better, I dunno? But they claim
  • Redesigned rotor and stator assemblies.
  • Reduced magnetic cogging, producing less residual drag brake.
  • Increased efficiency, resulting in lower temperatures and longer run times.
  • Smoother start-up, reducing cogging or stuttering when starting from a stop.
I'm sure this came from lots of feedback on the V1s. They don't rev stuff for fun, it's very expensive. Sounds like cogging was an issue.

I have one earlier type motor.
It stutters a little at slow rolling from a standstill. The same stuttering sound is heard at the last meters, when coming to a complete stop without braking.
In between those starts and stops it is smooth as can be. Also no stuttering at all when starting on a bit more throttle, and in sensored mode. In sensored mode, all you hear is a light buzzing from the esc.

The V2 is a bit smoother. but, it turns significantly less than the declared 1650kv . Measured with a skyRC Motortest and with a Castle XLX2 Log.
~ 1450-1500kv!! that is not good. Better they put a label with 1500kv on it.-)
