Limitless Castle xlx2 question

Hello arma friends😊
Today I have my limitless V2 with my mmx8s controller and the hobbywing 2250kv (42/78) on 6s. We haven't had high temperatures outside anyway. Unfortunately, my mmx8s went into the cutoff. I drive 2 6s lipos 4500mah in parallel (9000mah) with Qs8 connectors. The temperature of the motor was ok because I strapped on 2 3s fans. On the mmx8s fan I also have rocket fans on it. I then drove without the body and he also went to the temp. Cut of. Now to my question, is the xlx2 still a self-igniter (fire)? He would fit in without any problems. Is the xlx2 also suitable for high kV. I don't do speed runs. I drive very fast in a large parking lot. I'm a bit scared of the xlx2 because I read so many bad things about it back then. Did castle touch up? Many thanks for your help. LG

mmx8s controller and the hobbywing 2250kv (42/78) on 6s
Can you clarify what pinion and spur you run? I’m not sure what this means here.

The MMX8S can handle more power than that Hobbywing can dish out. Something sounds off to me.

ICHdrive 39 sporn and 21gear with PPS mount. This is the smallest (slowest translation that I can unfortunately block. I'm back to 1100kv now, but I prefer to bash with more kV

Unfortunately, due to its design, the motor blows the hot air over to the controller. The limitless body has absolutely no air passage, or rather hardly any. My question is. Is the xlx2 even more problematic for bashing and with more kv?

The xlx2 is fine for street bashing if not completely overgeared. I ran my limitless v2 (geared to 100 mph) and bashed on 8s the first 15 packs. Car is now a speedrunner but sometimes if i want, i still go bashing:)
The xlx2 should NOT use in offroad rigs when, as example you go jumping and land while on throttle. This can burn the xlx2 because it will delivery it rough power out

I hope you can understand this message :s

Hello, thank you for your answer, my problem is that I can't sprocket my motor slower than 110mph. For bashing that's a bit too much of a good thing. I can reach max 60 teeth with PPS motor mount. 39 spool 21 gear. In America you can also mount larger spools than 39 in Austria I can't get such spools unfortunately. LG

Just buy bigger 8mm saga pinion gear for spool.

I drove again earlier with 1100kv motor 5687 with 39 spool 32gearing set up maximum 84miles and the controller went into overtemperature protection again. I drive with 6s. I need a larger controller. Unfortunately, the mmx8s is overwhelmed here. Should I install max 5? It won't burst into flames anytime soon. I've never read anything about it that causes problems. LG
Motor was cold

I don’t have experience with a Max5, but what I’ve read is that its performance is comparable to the MMX8S.

It sounds like you may need an XLX2 if you want to keep driving the way you are.

Or if you’re hesitant, maybe try installing a big 4028 fan on the MMX8S and wire it directly to the receiver so it’s always on. Might be worth a try before dropping more cash.

Just buy whatever 8mm spool gear you want/need and swap it onto your spool. I’d go somewhere in the neighborhood of 45-47 on the spool. You’re running speed gearing, no bashing gearing.

Doesn’t have to be Saga either, there are tons of manufacturers making 8mm MOD1 gears out there.

I also have a lot of different 8mm bore MOD1 sprockets at home, but they are very different from the original ones in terms of width. Then just adjust the spacers from the limitlles spool? I have already installed better fans that are permanently switched on on the controller. I had the infraction before and the ventilation was much better. Many thanks for your tips. LG

As i told u, i drifted/street-bashed the first 15 packs on 8s with 100mph+ gearing and the xlx2's fan even didn't turned on 😉
At the end, it's your choice.

OK. I will buy the xlx2. Don't I have to be afraid that it will catch fire because I've read about it many times and also seen videos about it. Was that just a problem at first? Thank you for your tips 😁😁

Yes, just adjust spacers/shims to properly align with the pinion gear. 8mm spacers are available in assorted packs.

The first 2020 batches were failured but castle gave them a new one under warranty.

When you got your esc, make sure u have newest firmware and you will be fine.
To be fair, XLX2 still can very much burst into flames. I've had it happen to me a few months ago. I think it's pretty safe to use in on road applications though. I'd be a little more worried off road bashing but some people have no problems at all even off road.

I’ve seen people say that a lot. Why do you think that is? What’s different between them?

It seems weird that the MMX8S is such a tank for off road bashing while the XLX2 is a delicate princess.
