Hey everyone, i had a quick question for you guys
for a hobao VTE2, what do you think is appropriate gearing for running on 8s?
Its a lot heavier of a car then a 1/8th scale, so im wondering.

currently geared 28:34 if that helps

Also how fast is 28:34? On the 2400?
rc car calculator said about 150mph
fron what i have drawn so far, fast.

Start with lower gearing/speed and work your way up.
If you try to start high you are destined for a big crash.

Alright, do you reccomend lower voltage or lower gearing?

maybe 4s 24:34?

Yep lower voltag too.
With top shelf LiPos guys are cracking 150mph on 4s with the 1721.

4s would be a great place for the 1721 motor to start.
I would recommend a 34/34 to start. This should put the car around 100mph (assuming you have not driven it much yet.)
Then move to a 29t spur and 34t pinion That should bump you up 15-22 mph depending on how strong the lipos are.

Then go from there.
Once you master 4s and reach speeds of 140+ then you should look at going to 6s. But starting out with 8s is asking for trouble.

Yeah thats fair, i cant belive what mike is doing these days on 4s with the 1721.
I have decided to start out 28;34 on 4s, and take you are @K-BASH advice, if you can reach 120, 130, 140 on 4s youll go places on higher voltage.

what do you think the absolute maximum speed is out of the 1721?

Highest I've seen so far on a single 1721 was Raz at 192mph. According to Liberty he has a little bit of a downhill advantage on his runway so probably somewhere around 188 on level ground (I believe that's where he maxed out at ROSSA).

Yeah, im thinking about 185mph on a normal road like James has.
