Hello all. I’m new to the forum and the hobby in general. Thought I would start by sharing some pictures of the body I just finished for my Big Rock. This is the first time I’ve painted one, and it was a lot of fun! I definitely need to get a dremel to make cutting out the wheel arches easier.

Let me know what you all think. Any tips from people with more experience with painting RC bodies would be appreciated 👍🏼

Truck looks nice !! Like the color...what kinda bumper is on front of Big rock body? 🤘 🤘

Turned out great! Don't use a Dremel for cutting you need to get some good small lexan scissors or just a small thin pair that are really sharp👍 for spots I can't get the scissors to cut well I use an exacto knife and go really slow or shave small thin pieces off the edges. Again great job looks good!

Looks good. Is that the Proline 72 Chevy body for the Revo?

I did use lexan scissors. I just think a dremel would make sanding the edges after cutting quicker versus sandpaper

I swapped the front bumper with a Granite part and zip tied a generic lightbar from Amazon to it. I left a small window clear for the light to come through in the bottom row of the grill.

Close! It’s a Proline 1980 Chevy body for the Revo. Fit perfectly and didn’t even have to modify the body mounts which was great bc I can still throw on the stock body for hard bashing.

I used a tip I saw on YouTube where you score among the edge of the body with the knife and then cut up to that line in sections using sharp scissors. You then just bend and snap the sections off and you get perfect lines without the need for sanding. Works really well around wheel arches to. Just go slowly with the knife.

My next decision is to black out the truck bed or leave it body color. What do you all think? Are there any other options? Does anyone make a generic wood bed floor decal that can be cut to size and applied?

Yeah you can use the dremel for sanding, I see a lot of guys recommend it just because it is faster than doing it by hand.

Oops yeah I meant the 80. But that is good to know.

You could use some wood grain vinyl and make your own https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=wood+grain+vinyl+wrap&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=1

Wow that looks amazing, I must have it. I need to ask a few things. Have you lowered it, as it looks lower?. Also, i cant see the front bumper...dod you remove it or does the shell fit over the bumper? If it fits over it, wont that mean the front will get ruined ?

The shell slips directly over the front bumper and sits flush. I guess if you hit something it would mess it up, just the same as if you flip it, the top will get messed up I suppose. It looks lower bc the body sits slightly lower than the stock one but doesn’t rub at full suspension cycle. I have to say that it seems the body was made perfectly for the BR rather than the Traxxas. I didn’t even have to move the body posts.
