Kraton Chip main diff gear, ok to run?

Hey all,

Just pulled the front diff out of the kraton v6 just to check the diff play and check over it. So I found a tooth on the main gear chipped but didn't notice any clicking at all.

2 questions

Should I just keep driving with a chipped tooth?

Do I need to replace the main and input gears together?

The main gear needs to be replaced for sure. It will grenade in no time taking more with it. Do you have a pic of the input gear? You might be able to run it.

I haven't taken it out yet but looks fine and the gears still seem to mesh well.

whats going on with these new gears in the v6 I seem to be hearing a lot of problems with them like said above the diff won't last long with a chipped tooth I would change it while its out of the car

Change the ring, 100%. Make sure the shard is not still in the housing somewhere.
Remove the pinion for a closer look. If fine, use it.
If it was older or showing signs of wear, replace both.

take the rear end off completely easy enough

There's a grub screw just behind the drive cup on the input shaft. Remove that, the drive cup slides off. The input gear will slide forward and out of the bulkhead.

Tap tap with the end of a screwdriver handle after the cup is removed.

Already found the shard. That was the answer I checked the gear.
