So I want to upgrade tires on the big rock. So I have this chart that helped me with weights and stuff on other tires. Gonna have to replace my tires soon anyways and I definitely intend to go to the Kraton 4s arms, driveshafts etc.

I was looking at two tires for bashing days and general driving around days. I wanted to get a set of backflips for the jumps and I was looking at the katars that come on the talion for my speed bashing. Is it possible to at least run the talion tires on stock big rock suspension with metal gears?

Gonna need new tires soon, trying not to buy the same ones if I can avoid it.

I would stay away from the standard 3.8 tires. Backflip LP or Copperhead LP are probably the largest you would want to go. Personally I like the badlands 2.8 on the big rock. Talion tires should not be a problem. Remember stock motor and Blx100 pushing very large heavy tires could burn out your esc & motor. Keep a close eye on motor temps.

You didn't mention if you were trying to keep it cheap. If not, you might want to consider the Trencher 3.8 LPs. They are are 5.6"tall/2.96" wide, Backflip LP's are 6.1" tall/3.03" wide, weight is almost identical. Would be a little less top heavy with the LP Trenchers.
Personally, I tend to buy at least 3 different sets of tires for each rig so I have different options for different terrain. Cost more up front, but takes forever to wear a set out when you swap out tires for different surfaces.

Yeah, the talion tires are the next lightest according to the chart. That's why I picked em. I'll probably upgrade the motor fan to a double just in case.

I don't mind spending a little extra for a quality tire. I've seen the trenchers before. I might get those as a basher tire. Don't know why I like the talion tires so much, but I definitely wanted to get some for general speed bashing. Just hoping they'd fit and wondering how much I'd break running that size tire.

Even got the link! Good man 🍻 much appreciated
It looks like you have your mind made up. In my experience with the Big Rock, I found the 2.8 Badland MX the best...perfect balance of weight and low ballooning.

I have tried the 2.8" belted Trenchers, and it just ran hot on the electronics, plus killed the spur gear and input rear diff gear. Weight is a concern, so watch the tire weight unless you plan up metal for all gears that gets into money as well as better driveshafts (CVD). I did get another pair of tries to go with the Badland. It was a pair of non-belted 2.8" Trenchers. Love them for when I want less traction, and could be used on the road somewhat, although I never go all dirt for me.

Personally FWIW, I think the 2.8" is well suited and right for the 3S rig, even if you made it a 4S.

Best of luck with a pick (y)
