Tore into my first F/R 6s diff this weekend, all it needed was new bearings but that requires a disassembly, which got me looking at OEM diff fluid thickness for the front vs rear which got me wondering about the diff I bought a few months ago from Jenny's... was it front or back? does Arrma ship with same weight in both? Then noticed that the rear diff also has these Diff Outdrive Inserts in the drive cups, why doesn't the front have them ? My diff from Jenny's came without them, does that mean it came off the front or do they remove them. Bearing replacement went smooth, I had bought a few of the ARAC4004 rebuild kits (mainly because they were on sale) which saved me , found a broken pin when tearing it down, didn't have to make a run to the hobby shop. Anyway , wanted to point out this what you actually get in the rebuild kit for $9.66 ( still on sale)

They include 2 bearings, and 2 gaskets and most importantly they DO include the main input gear, that's $13.99 by itself...(these aren't shown in the HH picture of the kit).

Question.. the Kraton V5 is now discontinued. I haven't been doing this long enough to know what happens next.... I realize that the 6s line shares many of the same parts, but how long will I be able to get replacement parts for the Kraton V5 ? , should I stock up on key parts?

And lastly.. stopped in the LHS to get some diff fluid... on display , in an old sun faded box , is a brand new V5 Kraton 6s . $399. Should I buy it?

The rubber inserts come RTR in the rear. They help keep the driveshaft dogbones from walking too much & hitting the bottom of the outdrive possibly snapping them upon full compression. If you order say 4 diffs from Jennys- it's the luck if the draw that it's a F or a R. Fronts don't need the rubber inserts, the CVD keeps the dogbones from walking. Keep the rubber inserts in the rear.

Ahh, thats right... I'd forgotten that the CVDs keep those front driveshafts in place. Thanks

Yes, buy it!

399 for a brand new V5? 👌
Parts will be available for quite a while and you can always upgrade to V6 parts.😉

You can still get most of the parts for a V1 yet.

Cool, good to know. By the way, even with the extras in the diff rebuild kit, its still cheaper to buy it from Jenny's.... I should just buy the V5 and part it out myself
