Arrma RC's
  1. Notorious
  2. Talion
  3. Typhon 6s
Got this thing close to finished. Just a few things left to go now. Need to solder new connectors to the motor wires and esc plug then run all the wiring to the receiver and get it secured. After that I want to see what other options for mounting a wing I have, I just have a couple of Arrma body mounts that happen to fit and will work but I'd rather have something a little more robust. Also need to figure out exactly how I'll mount the body but that should be pretty easy. I'm hoping to finish up this weekend but I'm having problems using my hands due to nerve issues in my neck. Looking forward to seeing what this little beast will look like finished!

I've never seen a Bandit in person so I just bought the plastic chassis a few months back and started putting parts on it a little at a time. The FLM extended chassis was out of stock for a while but finally got that about 3-4 weeks ago and got the electronics after that.

Please upgrade to a 4092. That would be crazy.
Haha, I've got a brand new Hobbystar 4092 but it's going in the Fireteam.

I toyed with the idea of making this a 6s build. Would need a bigger esc, mod1 gears I to handle that much power and I'd want the FLM super cvd kit, a good bit thicker than the tekno shafts.

Problem is that's another $300-$400 for power that would be almost impossible to control!🤣

FINALLY!!!🤣

Started feeling like I would never finish. I built it for bashing but couldn't seem to help treating it like a shelf queen build, lol. Had to order thinner soldering wire so I just finished the electronics last night. Still needs a couple of minor things, but lots of rain free weather in my forecast so this beast will see its first action tomorrow or Saturday.😁

Just wanted to post up a couple of shots. Will update later with details.

Haha, just set it on a scale and it ended up .1 oz under 6 lbs. Probably unmanageable on 4s without some weight on the front.🤣
I was able to get my 4s Stampede to stay down with 5 oz of weights on an RPM front bumper, this will probably need something similar.

Thanks!

Really happy with the way it looks! I'm really kinda relishing taking my time with the finishing touches. I've already had it sitting on a block revving it a few times and can only imagine what a little powerhouse this thing is going to be in the dirt and grass. The weather hasn't been great for bashing and I have the 4s 1/8 Stampede build I just completed and a new Fireteam to bash with, so its a little easier to resist the temptation to go slap a 4s pack in it as soon as possible. Sooner or later though, its going to get all scratched up. :ROFLMAO:

Got to messing around today trying to figure out a better wing mount and realized I could just use the Typhon wing mounts. I just cut off the part that goes through the Typhon shock tower for the center brace, used the rear screw opening to attach to the Bandit shock tower where the body mounts would typically go, then lined it up to the second shock tower hole and drilled a second hole into the plastic so there are 2 screws now. Will need some different spacers between them for the wing mount plates to fit properly but I think I have some that will work.

I had a full FLM rustler build about 12 years or so ago, I loved that thing and it wasn’t cheap. May I ask the total $$$?

I added up everything except the body and battery and it was a little over $800. Decent chunk of money for a 2wd rig, but worth it to me, its ALL upgrades!:ROFLMAO:

That wing does look much better. That thing is sweeet!! Got me really wanting to go full tilt with mine!! I just simply don't have the scratch..but if I did, oh man!
Great stuff, I hope the weather breaks for ya👍😎🍻

You can always do it one upgrade at a time, even if it takes a year! That's how I did my Stampede which is what made me want to build this. 🤣😎

Heck yeah, it works! The mounting points on shock tower are a touch wide so the mounts are tightened in a way that makes them bend toward each other very slightly. Not sure if it will affect durability but I don't think it will. Guess I'll find out.

Had an unused spare wing so I couldn't put a used wing on it with everything else new and shiny.😄

I dread seeing it scratched up after the first bash...😟😥

🤣

Finally had weather, daylight, and available time all come together enough to give this thing its first real bash. Still wet with some little breaks of sun and not cold, about 45ish.

I've got it set up pretty conservative with 24/83 gearing (48p), slipper set a little looser than I run on my other rig with the same transmission, esc punch is on 3 out of 5.

Ran 1 pack of 3s on grass and 4s on dirt. Holy smokes, what a little beast!🤣
I have 5 ounces of weight on an RPM front bumper and it stayed down pretty nice. A little fishtail happy on 4s with wet ground but surprisingly driveable.i think the 1 inch chassis extension helps ALOT with keeping the front end down.

I'll try to get another run tomorrow or Sunday and get at least a short video to show it in action.😎

Decided to balance this thing out to make it handle as good as possible with 4s power. The extended chassis already had the holes drilled to allow the transmission to be reversed.

Went ahead and flipped it with the shocks set up in the back now. Almost all of the weight is now in front of the rear wheels.
Downside is the 4068 motor is too big, I have a 3665 hobbystar 2800kv ordered that will fit and run 4s. Until then I'll settle for running a Spektrum stock 3s I had in my parts bin.
