Pic for attention. Maybe a dumb question but, how come the center differential runs open and dry but the front and rear diffs are covered and we grease them. Is it for the shaft gear in the housing to keep it all cool? Sorry if it's a dumb question

Harmonics/Noise, bearing lubrication since it’s sealed, but also to heat sink/collect foreign debris. Under heavy 6S bashing that entire internal cup cavity will be 150+ degrees.

Vitavon makes a sealed transfer case I believe if you fancy greasing all 3!

With the front and rear diffs you spray 90% of your grease onto the inside of your gearbox.
With the center diff you spray 90% of your grease across your chassis and the inside of your body.

I know this from experience. In the winter I'll give my spur gear a light oiling to keep it from rusting.

I just installed a new ring and pinion gear in my Xmaxx. After seeing how much grinding paste was on them from the factory, I decided to see what happens by leaving them dry. I sprayed them with dry moly lube for good measure. Also cleaned center diff and jackshaft gears and applied moly to those gears too.
