It's my first time taking my diffs apart to replace the fluid. Aside from a couple of disintegrated diff pins and a shredded diff cup in the center diff, everything seems OK and comes apart easily.

Except for the differential outdrives F&R, they are stuck in the spur gear. Thoughts on how to remove them? The outdrives move/wiggle a bit, but won't come all the way out. I've tried as much force as I feel comfortable with, so thought I'd check to see if there are any tricks to this.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Mike

Set the ring gear across the top of the jaws of a bench vise with the outdrives facing down and use a hammer/steel punch and tap it out. You could maybe do this with two tables instead but key is whatever method you do is to not have the tables bounce and absorbing the force.

You could maybe use a really big deep socket or metal/pvc pipe if it's long/wide enough to fit around the outdrive and bearing.

Cool thanks both. I guess the message is - go ahead and tap it out, not much change of extra destruction...
