When I built my limitless, I had some trouble with the steering parts that connect the servo to the steering rack. I thought I had it right, but it just feels loose, the screws are very hard to tighten, the car fish tails when backing up at speed, and now, the steering started to fail. I just noticed metal shavings around the servo horn 🤦. Turns out one of the tiny screws was missing.

Is the part connecting to the horn supposed to be sitting flat?

Anyway any other tips, or even better, YouTube videos for building the steering connections would be highly appreciated.

Yes, the link is supposed to be level. The link won't produce metal flakes, it's plastic. Are you losing splines on your servo horn?

Yes. The horn is producing flakes and is a separate issue. How the hell is that part supposed to be level? lol…

Probably need a different servo horn. Not flat. The Arrma 25t one is an option or a HR one. Those are angled up & allow the link to be flat.

I have never done this, but I think I saw someone else mentioned in the past has put small spacers under the servo (with longer servo mount screws from under the chassis) to raise the servo level with the horn. I put these in my cart at the time, but I think they may have also mentioned something about some sort of rubber rings under those or something for a little cushion, not sure.

With any luck, someone with similar experiences will chime in soon with more helpful information than I can provide. :(

Yes, most decent horns have both the clamping screws and the screw to the servo output shaft. Both need to be tightened.
With a quality servo link, a small misalignment with the steering link is fine. They don’t need to be dead-nuts flat, and actually seldom are in most cases.

Ya know when I first tried installing the steering, the servo was too tall and wasn’t fitting in the mount because the bottom of the servo was hitting the body. So I installed some washers as suggested here so the servo is raised already. I’m still pretty confused on how these are supposed to be seated. I keep seeing servo mounts for the limitless, I didn’t use a mount, just what was in the car already.
