Dumb question #355 Battery marking meanings

What do the markings that I see on some batteries like 4s1p or 4s2p? I know it’s 4s=4cells but the 1p or 2p is my question Of its meaning?

So, 4s2p 4 cells in series, 2 parallel-1p means no parallel
That's my understanding, high level

4s is series and 1 in parallel.
2p means 2 in parallel. Just a way of constructing the pack.Several years back it was more common to have 2p packs as larger packs were more difficult to manufacture.
In either case, they are all OK to use. Just a matter of preference.
