Someone had some fun!

More like Arrma neglect..
Shame!

That kid didn't have the decency to even attempt to repair what damage he caused..
Well, I guess he did take the front arms off , THAT was about it.

Perhaps one look at the bent hinge pin ,taco-ed Ackerman bar ,chewed cup, stretched out end link ,bent drive shaft, snapped screws, and Cracked diff casing..
He just couldn't take it anymore.. Too Much for the kid to handle.

Looks like he rounded out the hex to a pillow ball cupS... By cross threading them into the hub.

All I can say is that if you have several upgrade radios or even some decent RTR's to compare with, you will quickly find that STX2 so latent in control. Will feel lazy and disconnected in a best case scenario. Range/interference is horrible, a given.

Edit:
I saw one YT video ( Earl Moorehead) was bashing with his daughter and both using 2 STX2's and one would interfere with the other. He had to stop his daughter from driving hers to finish his video.
I heard a story about the stx unbibding everyones truck from the field. They had to bind them again to their radios.🤣

Well it was a kid. Lets not be too harsh. How many adults here came to the forum asking for emergency help on how to take things apart? Maybe the stx2 joked itself and he ran into a wall or something. The stx 2 can have big delay between commands that doesn't help his case. If he doesnr like the truck he drivibg he wont be wanting to maintain it qhen it breaks

Almost as bad as arrma QC :p :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:.

Looks like you lucked out with the awesome "straight" diff input cups... Not sure what's going on but it seems like every one of my cups wobbles to an extent on the new ones....

Hit it with some degreaser and compressed air..

Now the trouble begins...
I can't seem to budge the grub screw that's holding the input cup.....

IMG_20230226_131357472_HDR.jpg

How long do you guys have to hold the heat on there to make it break loose?

Is it me or does that input gear edges look a flat? Is that just how it looks after a few packs?

I had the same problem with an 8s motor mount screw, held the iron on there for 10min.. Finally just had faith and wrenched it and it finally loosened... Someone on here said to grab a Creme Brulee culinary torch.. I fear I would melt everything around it with a torch.

Get a small torch, the open flame will soften up the loctite faster than a iron

Wouldn't a flame towards that grub screw be too close to the diff casing?
Granted I'm not going to re-use this one ,but what if it was a new casing? Would you still use open flame at that area?

It'll be fine, keep the flame angled away from the housing... I've had to do the exact same thing 2 or 3 times and never even came close to hurting the housing... the flames from the small torches are pretty controlled and crisp, I have a Power Probe one that I use at work all the time, does the job perfect. Let me know if you need anything for this project, I have a ton of spare 6s stuff you can have for free, you help out the Arrma family all the time, would be my pleasure to return the favor👍

Okay.
Open flame worked! 🦖

@RCbuzz , @DLK83
Thank you gentlemen. 🙏

Got the bits all disassembled from the old busted up casing.

I didn't realize those housings were so cheap! Did the grub screw give way after the flame was on it for a bit or did you have to let it cool down?

Thank you for this! I will pick one up, I get so frustrated trying to get loctite screws off! Was thinking I just need a really concentrated flame.

I used what I had on hand..
A BBQ lighter ,the flame shot out very concentrated. Exactly what I needed.

I let the flame heat up that grub screw with the driver bit already in there (just to be at the ready) and it sort of added heat-mass to the area, so I left the flame sit there for 15-20 seconds and just turned the driver immediately afterwards and it broke loose.

Easy Peasy.
Just as instructed.

You have quite the project going on bringing that rig back to life. Like to see renovations of this kind! I have to ask...the pic of the open flame trying to remove the grub screw....is that your bathroom sink? Is your hobby room also in the bathroom?

@Tex Koder whetr did you get that little grease gun?

I use it to build my mountain bikes with..
Very easy to get precise amounts of grease to tight locations without wasting a bunch of grease.
A Mini Grease Gun.

I paid ~$8.99 right before the Pandemic took off.

It's a couple of dollars more now..

Only issue I have with it is when re-charging the grease. The instructions/photos make it look so easy. But I never could get all the grease into that little canister without making a mess. I don't know why..

IF I was to do it all over again, I'd paid a little more and get one of these twist on attachment mini grease guns onto a refill grease tube instead >>

Uhm... Yes.. it is.
When I'm playing with Fire!, I don't take chances..
That's my little girls bathroom -it's a 1-1/8" thick granite counter top ,it ain't going to burn ,period.
IF I were to Fug something up and catch it on fire , the sink and faucets are right there.
Safety First! 😁👍
