My new LiPos, 3S 11.1V 1200mAh batteries to thrust my "granny-brushed Dromida" into warp drive arrived today.

Plugged battery number 1 into the meter, A-Okay!
Plugged battery number 2 into the meter, Not-so-good.

Got a funky reading, so unplugged, then re-plugged about 6 times, same results.
Cumulative, it shows 8.35 volts and cell #2 reads "A5.6".

I'm assuming this LiPo has a bad cell.
Any enlightenment or other information from the board is welcome!

New lipos ship at 3.85v per cell. Given it is new and uncharged, you likely have one (bad) cell sitting at 0.65v. You can verify this with a DVM. It happens, you shouldn't get much hassle requesting a replacement.

Thx @Dustin Mustangs for the explanation.
Well, looking for a bright side, at least I've got 1 battery that's good so I can continue my 1/18th brushless adventure.
