I just installed a replacement ESC from Horizon Hobby and the sticker on the bottom reads "2004 V4". The sticker on the old ESC reads "1911 V3". My guess is that the first 4 digits is the firmware version and the V3/V4 is the hardware version. Does anyone know for sure what the numbers mean or even better what the differences are between the two?

Firmware version number is my guess. Year/month is a good guess.

I think you're right, it is year/month. That would be the date of production. I guess I'll find out if the V4 actually has a sensible low voltage cutoff. The V3 cuts 2S at 6.15V.

And it looks like the V4 also cuts at 6.15V. I can't believe that no one else has this problem.
